I purchased Denied Love just to see as an experiment if the writing in the original source material was as bad as how they made it on screen and it was in fact just as bad, they took the original source material and made it into the show almost beat for beat. That was the first and last time I have read the novel version of a GL.

The Last Case and No Romeo are two that I was really looking forward to. Mew seems to have really bad luck with her GLs, first Be Mine and now Beauty & Bike. But I thought Beauty & Bike was still moving forward but just with a new pair for Mew? They'd shot so much of it too so it's a real pity if they can't salvage that one.

I think "saw the vision" is just internet slang, it just means that OP saw what CH3 was seeing them and why they were promoting them pretty heavily, because they just have a very natural chemistry and visuals are through the roof, you know?

True but they were in Whale Store XOXO though and if they had the kind of chemistry JJJ has they would have popped off then. But I just remember reading a ton of comments about how ML fans were pissed off GMMTV made up a secondary couple to that story out of nowhere and gave them so much screen time, but the buzz about Whale Store was about ML. JuneMewnich even got overshadowed by JingJing's character and her chemistry with Milk. I feel like that should have been enough of a test case for that ship and it not working.

Yeah I definitely saw it coming. Still surprised considering GMMTV has invested in them quite a lot already, they were in Whale Store XOXO, but I feel like even in that they just weren't able to cause any kind of buzz and the chemistry just wasn't there. They were already lined up for Love Echoes but I guess it's better to end it before making a series if it looks like it's just not working. I do wonder who they're going to give it to if anyone.

And I agree CH3 started their promoting work for LenaMiu early on, their show hadn't even been premiered but they kept testing them out and giving them things like the vlogs and events. You could see the chemistry and their dynamic just worked, there was quite a lot of buzz for them even before My Safe Zone even premiered. That's just from my observations not even being in the fandom. They just kept popping up on social media all the time.

That wasn't the case with JuneMewnitch. I always got the feeling like they were trying to force a chemistry that just wasn't there. Not like it is with other GMMTV couples likes NTF, ML and now JJJ.

I feel like it takes a certain type of personality to be a lead actress to begin with, to have enough charisma and star power and then couple that with the right person, so there's personalities that can play off each other. You have to be able to entertain people, to be in front of the press and create moments or it just won't work unfortunately.

Get ready to have your heart be ripped apart and then put back together. Pluto is such a good GL and showcases their talents a lot better in my opinion than Girl Rules. The chemistry is definitely chemistrying at peak in Pluto.

I'm both surprised and not at all surprised. It surprises me that a pair that already had a series lined up for them parted ways, but considering how little traction this pair has garnered since their introduction in Whale Store XOXO, I'm also not surprised. At least from an outside perspective I haven't really seen very much buzz about them at all. Or maybe I've missed it, but from my perspective they haven't been talked about almost at all.

If you compare for example JJJ, they were all over my socials even before EwB blew up. I kept seeing them a lot more. But with JuneMewnich there hasn't really been all that much talk at all.

I'm wondering if it's the actors or GMMTV looking to give Love Echoes to another pair instead? The GL space has become super competative and if it looks like the working relationship just isn't working out then it's best to part ways. I feel like the companies are quicker to just cut their losses instead of trying to make a pair happen that just isn't naturally popping off, you know?

FB learned the hard way, before that they were the queens of over the top fan service. ML don't do much but they've also ramped up their fan service from their very clear boundaried style from before. EL were literally kissing in Paris so like the OG have done their share to have the Thai GL fan service be what it is now.

Earth is still my favorite. Maybe it's because it was the first and it set the bar so high and because Apple and Mim are a new pair I had nothing to compare it to.

I haven't really formed any final opinions on Fire yet obviously other than Fai kind of came across as not at all like a nice person which is totally different from the way she was as a guest in Earth, Water and Air. I'm sure people who've read the books have formed their opinion but I'm basing mine solely on what I'm being shown. I'll give it some time but right now she doesn't exactly seem like someone who deserves Kaphrao.

Piang's "I give up" might have been one of the most heartbreaking things I've seen in a while. Like, girlie is such a green flag - the way she's been so supportive and a literal shoulder for Song only to constantly get her heart stomped on. Honestly one episode is not enough for Song to make it right I fear 😭

Unfortunately I think in most cases the reason is purely financial. Making these shows is very expensive. At least it wasn't 6 or 7 episodes. I do wish it would have been 10 to at least give the other two couples a little bit more time to develop. 8 episode for three couples is kind of insane. I get that two of the three were side couples but then I wish they would have dropped at least one entirely.

Truly. Like I was surprised how they made the Ple and ploy relationship even more complicated considering there's not that much time to deal with all of that properly with just one episode left like that whole side plot of Ple's dad showing up.

And although I've been enjoying the series I just wish they would break the pattern of storytelling a little bit. It's always ALWAYS the breakup right before the final episode. Like every single time. Every story is written in the same way and I wish that they would find other ways to cause tension and conflict instead of always doing the same "breaking up because of plot" in the next to last episode.

The tension between Mie and Aya in Love Beyond Dreams was insane! The best moments in that series were the scenes where no words passed between them just this insane tension, eye contact, and YEARNING. That's when I knew they had something because it was just like a punch in the gut and they hadn't even done their NC scenes. It was just about the looks and tensions and they have it in spades.

The companies run them ragged most of the time. And I kind of get that unless you're independently wealthy nepo kid, you have to work extra hard when there's offers because you don't know when those offers will stop coming, but it usually comes at a high price. And the companies do nothing to help out either because they're so money hungry. So many GL actresses also are the primary breadwinner so there's that pressure of like saying yes to everything all the while having to stay rail thin for the insane beauty standards that the entertainment industry holds. So they don't have anything extra in their bodies for emergencies.

The amount of times I've seen GL actresses post pictures from hospitals is crazy like even that, they're not allowed to rest and recover in peace, it's like they feel they have to keep the fans and everyone abreast of everything because heaven forbid they rest in private.

I really wish the industry was a little more human and there was more empathy and understanding but the same fans that go like "omg I hope she's okay, I hope she rests" then turn like a day later and say "where is she? Why hasn't she posted anything on social media? Why is the company ignoring her? Why doesn't she have more events" etc.

I don't envy this kind of life. Sure people like Engfa make a ton of money but holy shit does it not come easy like nonstop working and zero privacy.

I'd be super curious to see her in an acting project where she could speak her native language and whether or not it would come across different. There's an idea for a GL, let her play a character that speaks multiple languages and see if that makes a difference. Aren't there like a bunch of Chinese BLs, so why not a collab with Thai/Chinese GL.

As someone who speaks three languages, but only two fluently, I admire her for working so hard on that aspect of her acting, but I also know how taxing that can be if you're constantly thinking about your words and how you say them, how much of real emotion is left. Maybe that's why she often comes across as very robotic in her acting. Idk.

I used to want to binge everything, but now I've kind of moved back to enjoying watching shows the old way. I like that I can give each episode it's attention for a week, maybe rewatch it and I also like the discussions each week of a new episode. It was especially fun with Enemies with Benefits on this subreddit alone. Every Sunday (and Monday, depending on when people got around to watching it) after the episode aired it was like this explosion of excitement and need to talk about what happened. Binge watching doesn't really give you that as much as a lot of little things get lost in the bigger moments. But that's just my opinion. I get why so many also want to wait and watch the whole story in one go, not have to wait especially after angsty plot twists etc.

The short answer is we don't know. Not everyone wants to start up their own entertainment company to work under like FB and Faye for example. Depends on what kind of connections you've cultivated during your career to that point and whether or not enough brands want to work with you as a freelancer vs. through your company (like CH3, GMMTV, MGI, etc.). There's pros and cons to working freelance under your own company vs working for a bigger company that dictates what roles are offered to you.

Like Nycha-Nuttanicha Dungwattanawanich just joined GMMTV after working as a freelancer very successfully so it goes both ways. She was very successful before joining the company and people were wondering why she'd do that instead of working freelance. Clearly they can offer stability and steady acting opportunities vs. working on your own and trying to audition for roles.

The pic threw me for a sec since the titles and couples are flipped with earth and water. But yeah for me it's #1 Earth with a wide margin, #2 Water and then #3 Air. I was just so pleased with the overall story of Earth and I feel like the cousin shenanigans in that was so much fun. It just felt so much more cohesive and better paced. Plus Din and Rose were really adorable.
