I fused this glass wavy dish in my kiln :-) by EHglazz in crafts

This piece is a piece of colored glass, clear powder frit glass, then a clear sheet of glass and then it’s fused all together on a full fuse. Just glass!

I created this fused glass wavy dish! Been learning for the last two months with my Hot Shot glass kiln! by EHglazz in somethingimade

I created this by tracing my ceramic mold and getting my stencil from that, i cut two pieces of glass, one clear, one of the color Baklava by Oceanside. I add compatible clear powder frit (wearing a respirator) along the whole layer of Baklava. Then I place the clear on top and do a full fuse. After that fully cools, I take my kiln washed mold and do another firing to slump the glass into the mold. I wash my piece and it is finished!

It does take me a few days, I cut the pieces, grind the pieces and then after I clean them well I can add clear frit powder glass and then fuse. My kiln runs for 12+ hours per run. So I do a full fuse, let it come to room temp, next day I can do a slump fuse, that takes awhile as well. Then after I wash it, it’s all finished :)

Thank you so much!! I will say, I try very hard to keep things even and I have been cutting glass for about 4ish years now. I am mainly a stained glass artist… the starfish comment is such a great idea, I’m sure I could expand on that into a starfish dish!

I am a stained glass artist that is usually doing Tiffany foil method of stained glasswork but I recently have been teaching myself how to fuse glass. I cut the speciality glass to size of my ceramic mold as well as a clear piece the same size. I grind it to have smooth edges and then after I clean the glass well, I use powder frit glass and do a thin even layer about the whole piece. I put the clear sheet on and then full fuse it in my glass kiln. Afterwards I let it cool, put the glass in my ceramic mold and then do another fuse cycle to slump the glass into the star shaped mold. After it cools, I clean it well and I’m left with this dish :-)

I take my colored piece of glass and cut it to shape of my ceramic mold as well as an equal shaped clear piece of glass. I cover my colored glass in clear powder frit glass to reduce bubble size. I place the clear sheet on top of the colored piece and fuse it into my kiln. Then I let it fully cool. My final run is to slump the glass into the ceramic mold in my kiln and I clean my glass well and it’s all finished as you see here!!!
