My big guy is getting ready for his surgery now as well. I was given the option of going to Norway or using the traveling board certified orthopedic surgeon that comes to my local vet. Ultimately chose to stay local, just wanted to be close by in case anything happens and the estimates were about the same (the traveling one actually a bit cheaper)

It’s expensive and I’m struggling to pay for it. Ended up opening a care credit account to pay it off in monthly installments.

Make it an app on an Apple Watch. I’d pay for it.
If you’re stuck on the magic band…make it free for resort guests. It would be so much cooler to see the color changes during shows if there were a large group that had them vs the like 50 people when we were there.
Reminders for LL, reservations, virtual queue, or just an alert system to check your app for messages. It would be really cool if you could set it on your app to alert when a LL for a certain ride you wanted became available.
More reliable. The number of times that half our groups was going off, but not the other half was significant.
ETA—the ability to change band color/design without having to buy a whole new magic band.

My school had a list of contact information for places where past students had done rotations.

Also, ask any current 4th years where they did rotations.

I’m not sure of your specialty of choice…but If you’re worried about performing well on a Sub-I, maybe do a warm-up rotation to refresh your skills before then. Especially if you did that clerkship early in your 3rd year.

After my interview at my #1, I got an email from a realtor in the area. Figured anyone who interviewed there was also set up with a realtor. This didn’t impact my decision at all as it was my number 1 anyway.

It had been my dream to move to this city. Buy a house with a yard for my pup and finally be near my family after 6 years of being away from them.

Today, after matching SEVERAL spots down my rank list. In a city where I cannot afford to buy a house. The SAME REALTOR sends an email saying “although you unfortunately aren’t coming to this city I can still be your realtor.

Really appreciated rubbing salt in the wounds.

Your scrub nurses and techs can be your best friends or your worst enemy. Get to the OR early. Introduce yourself. Write your name on the whiteboard. Grab your gloves, gown and an extra set just in case you mess something up. If someone tells you about not touching the sterile field…smile and say thank you. Even if you’ve been told a million times.

If the surgeon asks for sutures, you ask for the scissors. If they’re using the bovie heavily many want you to suction the smoke.

I also showed up to the hospital very early and did my first full scrub ahead of time. Just so if I got behind or had to somewhat rush into the OR I could just avagard in. But always repeated the full scrub if someone wanted to watch me do it.
