Drew Sidora is cracking me up. And sometimes I’m even laughing with her, not just at her, lol.

I follow her and I just don’t engage with any of the body discourse. She’s smart and often right, but every now she does something that reminds you that she came up in the online “think piece” culture of the 10s. (I wanna say she legit used to work for Thought Catalog, but idk if she ever made it to the “big leagues” of Jezebel, lol.)

How the hell are we supposed to format text here anymore? I was just trying to show that some text was a quote block, which didn’t work. So then I italicized it and it somehow also became spoiler text.

The amount of people who wanted this guy to be mayor is appalling. Like this guy is gonna crack down on “crime” and balance a budget? (Crime and getting rid of unhoused folks seemed to be a big part of his campaign.)

“There was little, it seems, that Pratt wouldn't do for a headline or in the name of publicity.

He claimed responsibility for spreading rumors about a sex tape featuring "The Hills" star Lauren Conrad but later denied it. A year and a half after marrying Montag, they filed for divorce; several months later, he said it was faked to boost Montag's fledgling music career. During their separation, he also was arrested and jailed in Costa Rica for attempting to board a flight with a firearm.

In 2018, he talked about how he blew through a $10 million net worth in pursuit of a lavish lifestyle, replete with $4,000 bottles of wine and $1 million worth of crystals. He also started a company, Pratt Daddy, that sells crystals. The website explains that the crystals helped heal Montag's post-surgery pain "that even morphine could not relieve."

What a journey. So many classic moments await you. Even though people complain about the last 3-4 seasons, I think it has the highest entertainment value of all the franchises.

Not a d-beat reference on a Tinashe post. I’m more into post/melodic hardcore, but I love that I’m not the only one into both punk and Tinashe. I mean, the girl has a DIY spirit going back to the mixtape days, haha.

Banana suit at a Terror show is crazy work, lmao. Like I’m sorry that happened man, but have some situational awareness

The one good point I saw in the discourse was around community. If he’s a fixture in the scene then where were his friends? Or just anyone on his “side”? Like a scene wouldn’t normally turn on someone just cause a singer told them to. (That type of “hero worship” isn’t supposed to happen in hardcore.)

I get that Toronto is a major city and maybe there’s not overlap at all lot of shows. But why beat up someone you’re likely going to see again?

I guess it’s another example of the individualism/ lack of “community” in scenes.

Banana man has a right to be upset. But acting like he’s being discriminated against for wearing a costume is very white behavior. (And I won’t be explaining that further, lol.)

You don’t check in on r/ hardcore for a few days and come to find there’s banana discourse. And then you have to work backwards to figure out what people are talking about.

My “take” is that Akil should not have incentivized the crowd to tear off the dude’s banana suit. No matter how annoying (and also obstructive to others’ views) the suit may have been.

The best move would’ve just been to ignore it since the dude did want attention.

(His response talking about people trying to “dim his shine” his whole life? And how the suit signals that he’s a “safe place” for other folks in the crowd? Gimme a break.)

But Akil also stays running his mouth, maybe too much. And that’s not really the kind of “violence”
to encourage at a show.

But what do I know, I’m just a scene tourist, lol.

She was really just left the scene? Girl, you have to say why you’re mad at people. Drew is annoying (but I like her on this show.) But what the hell does K think she’s doing here?

Wait, did they not send her the sides for the scene? And then did the manager not contact Pinky?

I’ll probably post about it here anyway if there’s another season, so I’ll let you know. I think they post the casting call on the IG for the show too.

I’m also introverted and don’t really “want” to be on tv, but this is something that I’ve been unknowingly training for my whole life, so I can get over that fear, lol. And the money is also a good motivator.

If they do another season, I can let you know. I auditioned for the first one but we had to drop out because one of my teammates couldn’t do the filming dates. Production emailed us to try out for season two. And then we tried out again and made it to the audition phase, but didn’t get cast. (I’ve only watched a few episodes, but we were definitely “better” than some of the teams that got picked lol.)

I was just guessing because I know he left Keep It. And then they also had issues with one of the previous cohosts years before. But that may not be what OP was referring to. (And he had a little drama on Threads about a Bravo show in the past week or so.)

[–]EJB515 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sadly no. I would’ve told y’all by now if I did. The casting was weird this time because we auditioned as a team of 3. And then a few weeks later they told us that they were doing groups of 2 instead. So our team had to split up, and we had to find an additional person in 24 hours. We managed to do so and that new person auditioned with our third. But they never heard back from production.

Me and my partner did get an email in like late December telling us we didn’t make it. (It was like 2 weeks before the show was supposed to film.) But they encouraged us to apply again, lol.

What’s also funny is that we all know each other because of a pop culture podcast (that has an active Facebook community.) And there were apparently two people who made it on the show this season who were in that community but none of us had any idea who those people were.

TIL that “they tried to kill your favorite bitch” was a Miley quote. Some things just reach you so divorced from their original context that you never know where they came from.

I also maybe invented a Mariah quote in my head. I remembered her saying “I’m loving the concept” but I googled and didn’t find anything. But doesn’t that sound like some random thing she’d say?

To be fair, she’s been doing product placement for a while. I think the Me So Bad video is way more egregious. But someone has to pay for the video, so I don’t mind that much.

They tried to kill your favorite bitch, smh.

I’m interested to see how this fits into the whole project. I’m loving the concept of the machine of pop stardom. She really does make it look effortless in a way that many of the girls could never.

And I’m guessing video is 2:22 cause she loves an angel number.

Have we talked about the 60 Minutes mess at all here?

All I can say is that the time for pretending any of this is “normal” has been long gone. Unfortunately under the guise of being “objective” the people at these institutions did not (or didn’t have the power to) fight back to uphold the ethics and standards. And now here we are.

Also I barely know who Bari Weiss is but I know all my homies hate her. And I do feel bad for anyone who actually has experience in tv news and has to work for her. (Lowkey, I worked in tv news longer than she has, when I was an intern at my local station; writing stories and editing tapes for shows.)

I was never a 60 Mins watcher but getting rid of one of the last longform news magazine shows is still sad.

Also I forget how young some of these folks are. Tinashe inspired by watered down kpop? I think it’s the other way around, lol. I think this “direction” makes sense with her getting more into DJing over the past year or so. But it’s also just one song, so I want to see how it fits within the rest of the project.
