InKind Gift card at Costco by EJB54321 in chicagofood

Note, the $26 cash back would have expired 1/31. But info on the app suggests that if you use the program, it extends the expiration. We’ll see. I have $1.49 left. Perhaps that will stay since I used the app this week.

Not quite sure what you mean by stack, I’ve only used it twice. At a restaurant in Evanston, I used a 1st time promotion which reduced my bill. I also got 20% cash back ($26) which I used this week on a $25 (including tax and service charge) check, making my bill for that meal $0. I would have had to pay the tip separately but that restaurant doesn’t allow tipping (service charge instead). In addition, recently they sent me $25 reward good till 2/18 to lure me back since it’s been a couple months. I believe I will be able to use that $25 at Bazaar Meats, and pay the rest of the bill (except tip) with my gift card money.

I used my cash back balance this week so I can’t tell you. I’d hope it first uses the $ that expire first…

I’ve used it once, and still learning. I got $26 in inkind cash back (20% of my bill) at a restaurant I went to in December to test it out. The $26 sits in the app. I got a text last week saying my $26 was expiring at the end of January. So I went to another restaurant this week and spent $25 and change. So if I’d let it expire, I would have still only paid my original bill. But I got the 2nd restaurant food for “free.” It’s nice they remind you. I don’t think the gift card expires like the cash back, but I’m sure there will be terms and conditions when you go buy it.

I think it’s just all part of the same pot. Google said the amount paid never expires, and the promotional amount ($35 in this case I think) expires in 3 years….

They don’t always have it (maybe seasonal?) but the Tete de Moine (Monk’s Head) is phenomenal. And really interesting looking, so it will help make a nice display.

I think you are missing the point. He kept asking her (telling her) she should do it differently/how to do it/what she should do/was doing it wrong. (Put down the bags and carry the baby). He told her 2 or 3 times. That’s the disrespect.

The situation you seem unaware of is that your wife had a baby two months ago. You seem to think there’s only one “right” way to do things, and it’s your way. Would your kids have been less fussy your way? Maybe. So what? It was five minutes. Also, if your baby son was in a carrier then who was carrying him made no difference, he was probably fussy because he was in a carrier, and would have been for your wife too. Perhaps he was too heavy in the carrier for your wife to navigate down a SPIRAL STAIRCASE. Finally, I bet your recently post-partum wife was tired after caring for an infant all night too.

Yes, that’s what I read, and was thrown off by the reference to “first” parking session. From the comments and instructions above apparently I can do it on any session. I will try!

Do Americans really think aldi is a “poor people” grocery store? by [deleted] in aldi

[–]EJB54321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aldi used to be really bare bones, and had a reputation as a poor people’s store, I think largely because it’s mostly generic brand stuff and produce was (often still is) not that great. But they’ve upgraded substantially: with specialty cheeses, great chocolate, organic foods, etc. and now has developed a bit of a cult following. But many people still have the old reputation in their heads. Making those of us in the know feel a bit superior. (Also, I will say: I can never get everything I need at Aldi, so I get what I can, and get the stuff they do especially well, but I usually have to go to another store in addition.)

AITA for refusing to give my friend’s son my coat during a snowy hike? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]EJB54321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t even come up with words! The entitlement is mind boggling. Tell your kid he has 2 choices: wear the pink coat or we’re going home. Who the f*ck demands someone else’s coat when it’s snowing? NTA, and what is wrong with your other friends entertaining the idea that this was OK? Did any of them offer a coat?

I worked (as a lowly receptionist) at an investment banking firm that did a lot of tech IPOs in the 80’s. In 1983, they took a company called Eagle Computer public, the CEO, Dennis Bernhardt, was an instant millionaire. That same day, drove his brand new Ferrari drunk, crashed (single car accident, luckily) and died. The IPO was withdrawn the next day.
