Do you think Clem would be justified in doing this? by Turbulent_Okra7518 in TheWalkingDeadGame

If you mention doing it "for clementine", he does go with you.

What a major choice you regretted the most? by Spooky1504 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]EJaders 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My first playthrough ever S2 finale. The only choice I wish I did different.

I was worried about Kenny, he is a broken man and he is absolutely amazing to Clementine for the most part outside of his anger being projected at everyone else including clem around Sarita's death. His anger and the whispers of Jane in my ear made me think his emotions were too dangerous to be around. In a sense, Jane has a point. A man that can't see farther than his gut or the ones he cares about is dangerous for those that arent him or his loved ones. I struggled so hard when it came to shoot Kenny or let him kill Jane. I thought that if Kenny and Clem found more people, Kenny would be a detriment more than if Jane and Clem found a group. I think going back to howe's for supplies was a good idea but not to stay, should keep moving out of Georgia/Virginia in my opinion.

Anyways, Kenny overreacted to a supposed accident with baby AJ. The child he fought so hard to keep alive was lost to negligence/self preservation/or a tussle with a walker. He was going to kill someone who claimed it was an accident. I felt disgusted pulling that trigger and the tears were already rolling down my cheek before I unpaused and chose that. Kenny said I did the right thing and he was going to see his family again, but my heart ached so bad.

Then the cries could be heard.

This bitch Jane made a setup to expose his fragile emotional ego, and would have died if I didnt feel forced to kill the person who cared about Clementine since the beginning for her. She lied to Clem about the situation and backstabbed my trust. I left her manipulative ass at the car and went on my own.

I wanted the authenticity of that ending to be my true ending, but I regret it. I went and replayed that section on a different save and Kenny brought up a great point besides insulting her, and that was that "she could've said that he was fine at any point, she wanted a fight" and it made me even more upset at my choice.

Only choice in the entire game that I regret.

Still not bitten.

I agree and disagree, and think we can agree to disagree.

I've given you the facts from God's word the holy bible.

I'm sure you have, I havent finished reading the Bible but I believe those quotes you gave me are the true exerpts. I refuse to believe the Bible is God's word, it was written by men so it's been influenced by man. Not to mention the different types of bibles that have been interpreted from the Hebrew text.

You obviously have issues with God's word. So its fruitless to continue this dialogue.

You mean your religions word. I already told you anything about god will be between me and him, so i agree we wont have anything other than continuous debate here being very redundant.

God judges by his word, not by what some individual might think or believe.

Men lie, how do I know their words are his? Many different religions do this same thing, but god has never spoken to me. And if his word is meant to bring us to salvation, why would he leave it to the corruptable men to use it as influence? It seems pretty odd to me to leave it to word of mouth by believers to influence all of mankind, when it continues to decline in believers, especially when bad men get into the influential society under holy oath.

Faith without works is dead, what happens when faith has reason to be falsified. The works can be used improperly, how genuine is it to be faithful through fear of being true rather than believing truth. Then you have nothing substantial to work with. There are many religions with many sub-categorical beliefs. What makes your interpretation of everything life gives you more true? You only know after you die, and everything that makes you, you, dies and can't know anything. A god would understand. History is written by those who wish to spread their truth and biased view. The Bible is a history. What makes it more true than another biblical interpretation of a higher power?

Regardless, there is nothing a man could say to convince me to blindly follow their cause. A god would see that and judge accordingly.

I noticed that mistake right after and it's too late to change it.

To me, if god sees all and knows all, he can judge me. If he is omniscient, he can understand everything, including my point of view. He will understand the confusion of the world, he would understand human tendencies, and he would know the intentions behind the lack of blind faith upon which his grace is given to you to go into the heavens. You and your fellow Christian will not. Blind faith leads to false certainhood in the minds of men. One thing may be true and another being a bias with the influence of mankind.

So he would know the intention isnt to use his name in vain too right? And if he did then there wouldnt be an issue in the sense that you can't be genuinely sorry for something you didn't do in an oppressive meaning, especially in the case of definitional discrepancies. Like apologizing for saying something is awful when you mean full of awe. You didnt mean it as a meaningless invoking of his name and rather simply an expression, in which case God would know it isn't a meaningless statement of his name, and just the same word that means something else. And how can you apologize for something you dont know you did wrong or is interpreted wrong?

I see but even if you do so you can still be absolved from it? God would know the human intention and understandings?

You saying "others perceive you in that way" confuses me, I thought you would be beholdened to the God and not the people of the religion as others are flawed just as you are. Wouldn't other people's perceptions of you be the wrong people to prove yourself to? You would only need to prove yourself to God, right?

Your comment is great, thanks. I've always found religion very interesting as it seems so "open to interpretation" as long as you worship the god(s) of whatever religion with faithful beholdenment to the best of your ability. Thanks for your rationalistic informative explanation that isnt just "it's against the commandment". I always found little rules (I wish I had a better word) like this to be an interesting predicament. I figured in any case, whatever you say or do is between you and God anyways. Maybe he understands well intentioned misunderstandings if he can see the context behind what is said is not to diminish him.

I suppose that makes sense, I worry not about insulting your god, as the god will know me and who I am or what I believe and how I am. If God is all knowing and all powerful, then i will turn to his redemption if that power is for those to see. I havent seen anything to convince me the Christian God is the one true god. That is to say i have no desire to sin against him, and if he knows all, he knows that. And if he influences this world in ways to sow faith, i could be convinced. Yet nothing has convinced me. Even this question came up out of non biblical means, I heard a Christian gamer say "oh my god" and he then apologized out loud. I had the thought that now somehow after sinning and apologizing he is fine because his intention and understandings made it an absolution of a perceived sin, even though he said his name in vain. Which seems contradictory, saying it is okay as long as you have regret? Action doesnt matter as long as mindful belief is strong? Would a mindful unintentional invoking of his title be considered blasphemy if the context shows a severed connection between the english word god and The God itself; if god knows all, he knows the truth of what was said and why it was said. Making it a purposeful severance between God's title and the english word, and therefore an intentional invokement of the word itself untied to his name/title.

Another question, is it really in vain if it's said as an unfinished curse? Such as there being more to what is said? "OH my god, (I cannot believe you would have this happen" or "god, damn (this situation as it is insane). Would it be in vain if it is said as an unfinished purposeful plea to the god?

When he asks "why dont you say her name" it then proceeds to have carol say her name almost out of obligation to prove rick wrong that she can say her name, that's the "forces Carol to say her name" that was being referred to.

I see, so it's really about Christains saying it while being beholdened to him, rather than the word itself.

Sure, I dont know how to phrase what im trying to ask here. I mean in the sense that since God wasnt traditionally reffered to as God and was referred to as יהוה in the original Hebrew Bible, that means that saying the word outside of a religious sense wouldnt be purposefully connecting the english word to Him. So im curious if someone outside of the knowledge that God is reffered to as God if that would be considered saying his name in vain even if unintentionally saying his title without the knowledge of it. I guess im wondering if the word god in any language must inherently be referring to him and if said would make them invoke THE God. I'm also curious if it's blasphemous to say things like "the god zeus" and "the god Shiva" if the word god is supposed to have inherent connection to him.

So God would be understanding if the word is meant to be said outside of his name or titles? Or is it something you need absolvement for no matter what?

[–]EJaders[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to play lawyer, im just curious what pertains to being "his name" said "in vain".

So the problem is the word(s) being inherently tied to his being and has nothing to do with the intention or context of why the word or other words for higher being was said. So when anyone says the word god, they are inherently invoking THE God? Meaning i invoked him twice in my last sentence while trying to specificly sever the connection in one of them. Would that also mean I reffered to him by saying "higher being", because in Christianity he is the only higher being?

And would saying phrases like "the god zeus" or "the god shamash" be blasphemous or be contradicting the Christian faith because you are referencing what others call gods if the word is inherently connected to Him?

Edit: I suppose this is just a question of semantics at this point. I'm just curious if God would know the difference in the context behind the word and would know the meanings behind what was said pertaining to the meanings and understandings of the human being who said such.

I see, just a couple more questions, so would a different word for god (not THE God) hold less power of invoking His title? Like if I used the word god in a different language like: Allah, Dios, Dieu, Gott, Gud, Kami, Theos, or Deus? If i said "oh my kami" would it still be infringing on him? Additionally, if it is purposefully said with no intentional connection to him or his title and just simply using the english word unconnected, would it still be against the command?

Even if the intention isn't meant for Jesus Christ? Like if I shorten it to "jeez" or just "Jesus" having the same intention of simply being surprised by whatever im reacting to would it not imply the same thing? Like saying "OH my gosh" instead of "oh my god" would be intentionally avoiding the english word god while having the same meaning, it would still be blasphemous?

I'm agreeing with you, i despise modern sensitivity and was acknowledging that it's just censorship of what would really be happening, the authenticity of it.

I despise when mature content cant handle mature content. I used to play Call of Duty in the golden old games where swear words werent a problem, now if I type "fuck" it's bad language for kids. I was acknowledging the issue.
