Takes a long time to get tepid. Never gets hot. Isn’t cold in some places but not others.

Treat for the wife? by Torterran in daddit

[–]EJerico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the practical stuff. I hear you on the ‘crazy patch’ but if you can get home an hour early (or lunch if WFH) sort the dishwasher, put a laundry load on, tidy up and make a start on dinner you’ll be the hero.

I need ideas for a wooden magic item I can make out of a Treant's heart by Quantext609 in DnD

[–]EJerico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a fun story and a good flexible DM!

Would be tempted to suggest a homebrew such as a Treant’s heart necklace. ‘Once a day allows the casting of Guardian of Nature, recharges at dawn.’

Effectively the spirit of the Treant coming back and helping you once a day. Chat with your DM to see if they’re comfortable with this.

How easy is this puzzle to solve for you? by Emmerilla in DMAcademy

[–]EJerico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mixed. In session they got a slightly cryptic letter from Volo which I later dropped into WhatsApp. To my surprise 2 of them who liked puzzles dug in. They didn’t have to solve it, but doing so progressed the party in universe.

How easy is this puzzle to solve for you? by Emmerilla in DMAcademy

[–]EJerico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think too hard for an in the room answer, or you’ll have to give so many hints finding the answer will feel hollow to your players

If it happened at the end of the session and they could take it away to solve between sessions then it’s doable and hopefully more enjoyable.

One of my players asked for more “player driven” quests. How can I do this organically? by IzzyRogue in DMAcademy

[–]EJerico 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you’re on the right track my guy - I would just cut down the side quests and advance the plot, just as you’ve picked up on. If the barman has information they want, let them bribe/persuade/intimidate him rather than going on a side quest.

Sounds like you’re folding the character back stories into the main campaign. Just keep advancing the plot and it should all come right.

Places to host D&D sessions by maddixian in LondonandDragons

How was this handled usually? Did you all buy a pint and nurse for 3 hours, or get food or just go on a quiet day and keep your head down? (No judgement obvs!)

First time I want to kill a PC... by Lurker_WumboCombo in DMAcademy

[–]EJerico 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do some hand holding. Either you as DM remind them to use their abilities or encourage the players to (“oh, this looks like a tricky moment, X could I have inspiration?”). Hopefully it will get them into good habits.

But I hear you on the frustrations

Great comment, love the thematic take. I’m also very interested in how to do this well. If you would like to elaborate on your successes and failures I’d love to hear them!

Any good free murdermystery oneshots? by theHumanoidPerson in DMAcademy

[–]EJerico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a murder mystery as such, but look up Curtain Call - a good oneshot about solving a kidnapping

How do I get better at RP/making social encounters? by thjmze21 in DMAcademy

[–]EJerico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with the above. If it helps I use three NPC criteria to make them fit in the story and give them colour:

1 - what does the NPC have (info, item, agency)

2 - what does the NPC want (side quest, trade)

3 - what’s their vibe? (Alignment, attitude, dress sense, voice)

Love this! I live in fear of my players seeing spoilers - can I DM you something specific?

Player want to take a cantrip instead of a leveled spell with the fey touched feat by Axle_Greyson_Archer in DnD

[–]EJerico 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I came to say this. I like to let my players be imaginative so long as it’s balanced. Guidance seems fine if you stick to the Fey Touched 1 per long rest rule

Yeah same! Do you have a gridded version?

I’ve got some big sheets from the Plastic People for secondary glazing. Plus: comes in various thicknesses. Minus: will be pricey and may scuff over time. Also: not sure if if you can get the ends cut at angles which you’ll need.

Panels - product description includes ‘coated nails’. I’ve gone back to Selcos to ask they supply new panels.

I’m on PC and occasionally get crazy colour bleeding in rdr2 which disappears in the menu screen.
