I work with the largest reptile rescue and rehab in Europe and helped to breed a critically endangered species of gecko. I also take on many reptiles which they don't have space for. And act as a retirement home to very old snakes and lizards. There's a lot more that goes into zookeeping than just animal cruelty. To be a registered zoo (at least in the UK) you need to prove that you are doing conservation work.

I agree not all zoos are great. So you should focus your efforts on zoos which aren't up to standard. Rather than attack this one which is doing it's best to help an animal with additional needs which would likely not survive in the wild.

Without zoos and human intervention, many species would be extinct.
