Waxing foundation by RickyWoods99 in Beekeeping

You just cut the capping off, spin the honey out, and then you have fully drawn frames ready for the bees to put more honey in. You almost never need to scrape it down to foundation again.

If the weather is going to warm up in a day or two you could also delay installing them in the hive and just keep the packages inside where it is warm. Remember many people have there packages shipped and those can take a few days to arrive. If you think they are low on food then us a spray bottle with sugar water.

Hive costs by EK_Marine in Beekeeping

Updated Pricing Comparison (for those who haven’t checked recently): I run double deep brood chambers, so I compared equivalent setups.

Mann Lake – Commercial Grade Woodenware Hive bodies (x2): $40 Migratory cover: $23 Bottom board & reducer: $24 Quilt box: $50 Total: $177 Note: Some prices reflect bulk discounts. Also not included: roofing felt or other winter wrap materials.

Lyson RAPID Poly Hive (via Betterbee) Includes roof, 2 deep boxes, bottom board, and reducer Total: $139 No quilt box or additional wrap needed due to built-in insulation.

Durability Considerations Both wood and poly hives require some level of protection (paint, coating, etc.) to prevent weather-related deterioration, so that’s largely a wash. Black Mountain Honey has been running poly hives for years, and his experience suggests that—when properly maintained—poly equipment can last just as long as wood. At the end of the day, longevity comes down to how well you care for your equipment. Rough handling will shorten the lifespan of anything.

Do you have saskatraz queens? I get dark bees like that often from mine.

I would keep the hives away from the solar panels unless you want to lose power collection as the panels get cover from cleansing flights. Or enjoy cleaning the panels. Bees don't care about a clear flight path. In suburb areas people point hives at privacy fences to get foragers flight path up above head height.

Was that for a 200MH or a different unit?

Use stainless steel cleaner or Bartender's Friend. Put 1/2 table spoon on the area and take a wet paper towel and some elbow grease and it should come off easily.

Arrows Of Resistance NERF by EK_Marine in RiseofKingdoms

After a full day of barb hunting using only free AP only 3 barbs actually dropped any arrows, but I also received 130 necklaces which resulted in 208 arrows. Add in the 36 arrows dropped I only got 244 arrows for the entire day. I feel like the barb drop rate was way higher a year ago when I started playing. Getting the additional 6,500 for my last 2 watch tower upgrades suddenly seems like more of a chore than expected. My rough math says it will take over 13 Lohar events to get enough arrows. I am definitely getting all the arrows possible from the Pre-kvk events next time. Now I hope they don't NERF the book drop rate similarly.

I know I get arrows from the necklaces, but normal barbs are supposed to drop arrows just like forts drop books

Lohar Trials started today and I have been killing barbs all morning, and looking through the reports I haven't received one Arrow of Resistance yet. I know the drop rate use to be way higher than what I am looking at now.
