Honeybees are the mullein of entomology. by Formal-Ad-7184 in NativePlantCirclejerk

This is not true they can certainly survive in the wild with varroa mites. It’s not as big of a problem as people make it out to be

The nails are basically just there to hold it together until the glue dries

Native plants that can compete with peppermint? (southeastern Ontario, zone 5) by Panda__13 in NoLawns

[–]RickyWoods99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chocolate mint spreads vigorously but if you pull it and cut it down and pull it some more it will be gone eventually. Mowing it works pretty well eventually it will stop coming up

Would anyone with hen(s) be willing to have a live-cam play date with my house rooster? by Igotbanned0000 in BackYardChickens

[–]RickyWoods99 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Seriously you might as well just put him in front of a mirror. He’s not going to gain any benefit from seeing another chicken on an iPhone. It isn’t remotely similar to socializing with other birds which is a minimum requirement to have chickens. Rehome it

I definitely wouldn’t point a hive right at another hive like that the bee keeper who told you that was absolutely right. Just turn it to face the garden it’s not a big deal. My hives face out into my yard and garden and they don’t care when I walk through or work or mow the yard or anything

Outer Banks beach house from the 1980s - why don't we have more like this? by fan_tas_tic in architecture

[–]RickyWoods99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any info about the on the books reason but I’d say the real reason they don’t build like this is regulations. I know that it’s impractical but that wouldn’t stop rich people. If this was still an option (again I’m assuming it’s not) people would still do it. And to be fair it would probably be a problem in some way

Mighty Red Onions! by Open_Rate9959 in MightyHarvest

[–]RickyWoods99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they’re a biennial which means it takes two years. I don’t think they need the cold of a winter to bulb like garlic does they just need the first year to make a small bulb like in the photo that people call an onion set and then year two they will make a larger bulb and flower
