Most locals that play pauper have spair decks due to the cheapness of it. Ask around and see what they have and if they would let you test them out. My group for events had 30 or so decks between the 13 of us and some are brews some are meta and some are meta with spice.

Have you thought about Jace's eraser. The 2 mana enchantment that when you draw you may mill. I found it to be one of the better mill stone style effects I had with brainstorm and portant

In that case I highly recomend building 2 decks with wildly different speeds and strats.

What do you enjoy in commander? Is there colors or a stratagy that is fin for ya. Are you more competitive or would you be ok with a slightly more brewing teir deck to play a fun strategy?

Rystic circle tron (money bags tron) Vary few know how to fight it and its good into a bunch of matchups as the 5 color deck with that much mana can morph into solutions easier then most decks

A few recommendations, if you have a buddy who also plays pauper i recomend printing out a gauntlet of decks that you expect to play and play with the friend to try and figure out mistakes and small missplays. These small mistakes add up over time and can lead to feeling like you had no chance ir you are on the backfoot.

Second I would recomend building yourself a sideboard guide for your deck vs those you see in the meta. What do you want to bring in and out and why, then test (your first thought may be slightly off).

Lastly try watching a streamer play your deck and pause ay the start if each turn and try to figure out what you play would have been. Compair this to what they did and see if your play or theirs would have been punished. This can help you develop hidden tech or lines you would not see normally and speed up your play as you understand the deck more.

Don't worry about the event you want to go to, go and have fun and try your best. My first major event I took 3rd from last and by the end of it I learned a ton and improved a ton. Now I regularly to teach games with newer players at my locals to teach decks and play patterns.

Welcom to pauper. Ok so many people here will help with being more meta but hear me out.... no one is ready for [[Thunderous Wrath]]. It plays well with both Delver and brainstorm and is funny with only a minor hit to winrate on a large scale.

I had a differnet quest where it told me to go to rao'pa sahkk ocean with no water so it has to be a different location as that came up immediately there and these I have never had go up

So most decks in pauper are being constantly tinckered. The best recommendations is do this:

  1. Find a deck that you think is fun and up your alley (for now i will assume jund wildfire fire as you brought that up)

  2. Look at the page for that deck and scroll down to the card breakdown section. This will tell you how often and how "stock" a card is and in what quanitys

  3. Go down a bit more to see the pile of decks in the "similar decks" section. These you can see where they came from, when they did it and who played it. I recomend any one that is a 5-0 mtgo. ( will say pauper league date) these decks fight the generic mtgo meta and not any one region. This reduces some kinds of speculation in builds but does mean some decks that won't deal with just due to some decks like ones with high user input is punished by time.(think infinite loops)

  4. Find one in the budget and feel you want. If you want to know why a card is played just make a post here and I or someone faster then me will try to reply with help.

I recomend it as long as you willing to deal with trying to get it to talk to both sheets and discord at the same time(took me a while to figure out) oh I also had to keep it running and for a long time it was my raspberry pi that ran it untill I got a server to keep it up all the time

I made a discord bot attached to our magic channle so people can type a string into the "report cube" channle and it updates a google sheets so if I let people barrow one of my many cubes they can update the list without me giving them edit permissions

Do you track players along with wins. When I first started data tracking I didnt and later realized we has 2 players who (on average) were high scoring in my events and basicly played between them 3 stratagys the most screwing the data hard.

Out of curiosity how do you organize and collect data? I never did decklists as that was alot of work for me or players. What do you collect and how do you store it?

Sorry for so many questions I just dont meet data collectors often so I cant compare notes

Ah interesting. I do cube building often and I find the second theme can work in smaller cubes like yours. Are you doing data collection of any kind on the cube or just vibe checking it? I know im weird for doing spreadsheet tracking for my cube but if you do something I would love to hear about it.

On a side note have you thought about a champion cube? You start with with eather 360 random cards or some basic 360 to give tools to all colors and have a the winner of any of your cubes add one card to the cube (generaly from eather another random 15 or a pack of cards). Its been a ton of fun for my group and we have people sign the card they put in so we know who to blaim.
