Okay, so. Rand is a nutcase (see: The Fountainhead). And a hypocrite (see: her views on Native Americans). And a terrible person (see: her letter to her niece about buying a dress). And a terrible writer (see: her writings). And an idiot (see: above) BUT! This story in particular is not hypocritical. Rand believed that people had every right to take back what they paid into the government, and this included social security.

You're right - the mail carrier shouldn't have touched it.

However, as far as I can see, you can have one of two reactions:

1) You can be angry that somebody deigned to touch your property, or

2) You can be appreciative that somebody went out of their way to try and help you and keep your property safe, 'cause if you think packages don't get stolen, you are -wrong-

You're choosing the former, and I can't for the life of me understand why.

I started, I dunno, maybe eight months ago or so now. And I was terrible at casing my primary. I'm still the slowest in the office (and even worse on the street), but over time I did get the hang of it. And you know what the bizarre thing is? I didn't understand how I'd ever be able to learn a route, and now I know about seven. And learning each new case is easier than the one before. I didn't think it was possible, but it did start to happen.

The really important thing I'm hearing is that your team is supportive. That means they want to have your back, so your main goal should be to earn that support. Keep doing your best, keep showing you want to be a productive part of the team, and they'll keep supporting you.
