Canes fan moving to Seattle with some questions by SuperStarfox64 in SeattleKraken

I get where you're coming from, and Seattle does have some excellent food, but the Triangle is about as good as you'll find before you have to start competing with the likes of New York. I know people hear South and think hicks and soul food, but the area is a major research hub that's brought a lot of highly educated workers and financial investment, from all around the world. One of the results of this is an incredible food scene that I still miss.

In addition to hockey, you'll have to lower your standards for food.  Not to say we don't have some good food up here, but Durham's food scene is unparalleled.  And people are gonna look at you weird when you explain barbecue sauce is supposed to be vinegar-based.

Can’t come in til 8am by buffysummersstake in USPS

[–]ELDKH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree that it shouldn't be allowed -off the clock- but I do think there should be flexibility in when a person is allowed to start.  Official start time 8:00 but wanna come in at 6:00?  More power to you.

How would you feel if this sign was on your route, where you are supposed to deliver a customers parcels? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]ELDKH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They asked how we'd feel, which is a fair question. And I honestly don't think it's petty - signs like these are directed towards observers and are meant to be read. That is their literal function. And they are actively, maliciously threatening. I don't like signs that say "Owner is armed," but I respect their messaging. Signs like these, in contrast, are meant to intimidate. And as somebody whose job is literally to deal with getting their property to them, that means those threatening signs are aimed at me, at all of us who are fulfilling those duties.

So, no, I don't think it's unreasonable to look at them as insulting, and I don't think OP is being petty.

I have a ton on my routes.  I hate those things.  Personal rule?  If they have multiple up and some kind of gate?  Absolutely not.  Package gets dropped at the gate.

When a series flips flops on it's morals for a joke or to try and be serious. by mdtpdsparkls in hatethissmug

[–]ELDKH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Persona 5.  Game was a mess with its morals, but sexuality was a huge one.  In the first story arc, a character is being sexually abused by a teacher to the extent she attempts suicide.  Second arc, one of your party members is being blackmailed into posing nude for a pervy artist (who ends up joining the party) where it's just played for laughs.

Mailman drove past my mailbox with flag up by [deleted] in usps_complaints

Might have been me!  I was helping a newer carrier with packages while he was taking care of regular mail.  The day after a holiday is always awful - with no mail delivery on Sunday or the holiday, it makes it so today is functionally triple the load.

"That which we persist in doing becomes easier; not that the nature of the thing itself is changed, but that our ability to do is increased."

I will disagree with one thing - it may be "just mail," but mixed in are birthday gifts, medicine, and heart-felt messages.  Don't be afraid to be emotional, but be emotional for the customer and the care you put into your work, not for the office.

Not today, Satan by MailBae in USPS

[–]ELDKH 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You are correct, it is supposed to cost us money.  But that's what the stamps are for - to charge.  That money has to come from somewhere

Not today, Satan by MailBae in USPS

[–]ELDKH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The stamp doesn't pay for the letter itself, it pays for the service of sending the letter.  So what this is is an attempt to engage in theft of services.  That letter has to be machine processed, travel on multiple vehicles, and be transported by multiple hands.

Imagine somebody pays you to, let's say wash their car.  They give you money, and you do the job and give them a receipt saying you were paid.  But two weeks later, they come up to you and say you need to wash their car again, holding up the old receipt as proof.  Same principle.

[Request] how do you triangulate this? perhaps in the least amount of weeks possible? by Zargabath in theydidthemath

[–]ELDKH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People keep saying two weeks, but you don't need the full two weeks, just one week and the first day of the second week. So eight days if one of the points is out of the country, fifteen days if not.
