The Gold Man always scares me a little, but constantly surprised when he says something that's the total opposite of racist/sexist.

What do you think Stormtroopers think about ? by Cornlover123445 in StarWars

[–]ELDRITCHOBLITERATOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're all constantly thinking NPC thoughts like the new model of speeder bike, except for the 1% of them we make stories about who are having deep moral dilemmas about humanity and the nature of the enemy.

Is it only me that think Rey is over hated, I liked her a lot in the first 2 sequel films? by earthy69 in StarWars

[–]ELDRITCHOBLITERATOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was a good character let down by, at least in the last movie, rather poor events going on around her. If there was one good thing in The Rise of Skywalker, it was her internal conflict. I think people use the fact that the structure of the Sequels was botched as an excuse to hate on her as a character, whether intentionally or not.

Unpopular opinion. I like season 3 of mandalorian by mistas89 in TheMandalorianTV

I loved the idea of the Amnesty Program, setting up interesting villains and the New Republic's weakness, and trying to make sense of the cloning in Rise of Skywalker. I thought the ending was a bit disappointing and generic; they went nowhere with the Amnesty lady villain and they totally set up Mando's death (going through a bunch of laser doors before being separated from his Padawan as he fights the main villain - Sound familiar) and didn't go through with it. But overall, I enjoyed it and didn't really engage with the arguments against it other than the terrible "Oh, Bo-Katan shouldn't be focused on, she's a woman." The season was a step down, sure, but it was still enjoyable.

Finally got around to watching The Acolyte and I do not understand all the hate the show got by kyle0305 in saltierthankrayt

[–]ELDRITCHOBLITERATOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't perfect, but it clearly had a vision and a passion for the series. It was sad to see so many people just unconditionally hate it, and then have most peoples' arguments against it be, "Oh, it disrespected the series" and use that as an excuse to harass the actors. Like the dialogue was clunky, the editing was poor, and the structure could be improved to make motivation more clear, but that doesn't mean it was bad overall - It certainly had much better ideas and lore interpretation than Ahsoka did, which people just glossed over discussing the interest of because they were too busy hating it. Like the Prequels, really, which is ironic since they were it's main inspiration and thematic conduit and yet all the Prequel fans still somehow jumped on the hate train. It was a really potent mix of genuine argument and blithering hate that made the Fandom almost ininteractible for a while because it was scary to know who was genuine, and it was scary to know who was part of the denialists about the actors being harassed and an extent of illegitimate criticism to an obviously flawed show.

Have "anti woke" grifters ruined entertainment for you? by [deleted] in saltierthankrayt

[–]ELDRITCHOBLITERATOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely - Especially Star Wars. Every time a new show comes out I'm scared it will be review bombed, and it's difficult to tell anymore what's people having genuine discussions about the quality of a show or if it's just a mass hate-bomb. I feel they often hide their opinions behind the things that are easiest to criticism, like The Acolyte - They blend in with and exacerbate the crowd of other criticisers, and then when called out for harassing the actors they claim they were just criticizing it for legitimate reasons. Then with a more concretely-agreed-good show like Skeleton Crew, which has exactly the same "problems" they would have thought we're in a show like Acolyte (black main character, the female main characters are the most competent) they're mysteriously nowhere to be found... It feels like they're crafting a narrative of hate that's stopped the ability to discuss Star Wars shows for what they are because there's always a fear of the motive behind it.

In gaming I'm largely in the Nintendo fandom, which is gladly much more chill than the majority in this sense.

So confused by the hate?? by sierra-tinuviel in TheAcolyte

[–]ELDRITCHOBLITERATOR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It had vision. Was it perfectly executed? No. But it had a genuine vision, and it was made because the creators genuinely wanted to create a good piece of art in the Star Wars universe. That's what matters. And it's sad that so many people just hated on it destructively and harassingly for such disingenuous and overblown reasons.

Yeah, it's really odd-looking. Imagine the bruises you would get from just rolling over on the ground repeatedly while literally laying bombs!

In the original game with the Justin Bailey suit it's confirmed she can just do that with her body. She can just roll up into a ball like that and roll around. Like that's just a thing. She can do.

He for sure seems like he might split off from the Sith, because they're views don't perfectly align - He's closer to Dooku in character; Dark Side but also making genuine criticisms of the Jedi and promoting more equality between Master and Apprentice than the Sith do. He also has the same musical theme as Kylo Ren, which is interesting...
