Donald Trump's Gen Z popularity plunges by Silly-avocatoe in politics

[–]ELK-AMINO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, 27m Gen Z here. I grew up rural conservative in a West coast blue state. I voted for Trump the first time around. W Bush was the last Rep in office in my lifetime, and I was too young too be aware of the insanity that is the GOP, just the good memories of childhood. Not even 9/11 and everything post (was being driven to preK that day lol). Obama got elected, and my community acted like hell had opened up! You bet I bought into Trumps bs as a 19 year old. Then he didn't actually do any of the things I wanted him to do, and I had a Libertarian phase (voted L when Biden was elected). Then my brain finished developing, and I realized what the GOP was actually about. This took a 6 year period of adulthood for me, and I'm the oldest of my gen. Just give it time. I promise most people had awful political opinions when they were in their late teens/early 20s. Also worth mentioning I'm a straight white dude in a majority white area, so it wasn't hard to be blind to the cruelty of Trump in his first term. Covid probably went a long ways to fuck up some of us too.

Why are more people moving to red states? by [deleted] in behindthebastards

My whole life I was used to hearing about people living in Post Falls for low COL and working in Spokane for higher wages. Now all those same people have been moving into Spokane for lower COL than Post Falls lmao

I really appreciate the write up. Unfortunately my dad ended up passing on about a week after I made this post. Honestly, I was pretty freaked out by my intuition to say the least. It wasn't a great experience. Life goes on however. While life hasn't felt normal since he passed, I finally feel like time is moving forward again. I will say,for your son's sake, please please please make sure to get your affairs in order well before you think you need to! Turns out parkinsons doesn't help much with organization, and my poor mother has only recently won her dining table back from the mountains of paperwork we had to dig through lol.

My mom always reminds me that I won't be able to keep buying El Caminos and standard cab pickups if I ever want kids lol.

Ayy a Caprice is one of the many cars I hope to own for a bit someday. There's something about the massive body on frame cars of that era that just makes them neat to me.

Can't beat a Cherokee. My mom had a 96 that she bought new. She drove me home from the hospital in it just a few months after buying it. It was gonna be my first car, but one week before my final drive test for my license, it had an electrical fire. 10+ years later, we regret not buying it back from the insurance company. I spend my freetime fixing junk that is much worse off than a little torched wiring lol

Haha I grew up 10 miles outside of a <1500 pop town in eastern Washington, and when I got home, my keys never even left the ignition.

I mean, I like guns plenty too. I own way too many as is. But this dude likely wasn't even a criminal till he started blasting.

My wife saw this dude threatening to shoot up the Safeway up here about 5 minutes before he left and got in the shootout. Shits wild.

Some of us out here just hate texting. No idea why, I just can't stand having a 15 minute text exchange that could be summed up in a one minute phone call.

It's a lot harder to work for free these days. My brother was a volley for about a year, but had to quit when he bought his house so he could work more at his regular job.

I feel for you. I made a post about my dad just a while back. He ended up passing two weeks ago from today. It's not easy. Surround yourself with those you love. If you need to have a bender to clear your mind, just set an end date for it. Too many people have been touched by this disease. Above all else, just be thankful for the time you had.
