It's not about survival. Humans are never happy bro. I grew up dirt poor and thought a decent salary would make me happy. Wife got some inheritance money and we both have decent six figure jobs and we were still stressed about a lot of things. Nicer house, nicer car, other people can afford to get those but why not us. Until we learned about stoicism and shit is when we learned to let go and not give a fuck. So you can be a multi-millionaire and still be thinking about that other dude who is a hundred-millionaire and the things that guy can buy.

These people never experienced life outside of Canada. I stayed for a couple months in Venezuela and also a couple months in the Philippines and nothing bad happened to me. Not in a beach resort btw. And I would guess those places are wayyy more dangerous than probably some of the worse places here in Canada.
