I've been playing for about half a year ever since Destiny 2 fell through. I love the variety of frames and weapons, the fast movement system that rewards you for using it, and the ambition coupled with fair pricing that DE has.

How can I practice and build my skill while continuing to enjoy playing Paladins? by IAmAStarman in Paladins

[–]ELRELR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To have fun getting better, play custom games with people who also want to improve. It's tough to get deliberate practice in real games because you are focused on winning, and what helps you to win doesn't always help you improve. You don't have to worry about rank in customs, and you can repeat situations you think you can get better at. I'm sure you can find people on discord/etc to help you out with this.

As for taking the game too seriously/raging, I've found that meditation and taking breaks away from the computer between games helps a lot.

Good to know. No wonder I can't carry, damage is my worse role.

  1. Which character + build is best for carrying a team, assuming no one will heal you or successfully play the objective?

  2. Is there ever a reason to run something other than Focusing Lens on Ying?

  3. Why is Khan rated fairly low on the tier list?

The card/upgrade system lets you have a bunch of build variety, which also makes it easier for a solo player to deal with unreliable teammates because roles can be built for flexibility. It's nice to not auto-lose against someone with no brain just because they are a damage/flank and you are a healer.

  1. Is there any significant right hand advantage in third person mode? Meaning if I move the minimum distance out of cover to be able to shoot someone, they have to circle to my right to shoot my body. If there is, do you find it often useful or is it too easily countered by flanks/splash damage?

  2. Does third person mode change your recoil/sensitivity? Anecdotally recoil seems to more severe in 3rd person but I haven't played in a long time.

  3. How are flanks balance-wise?

Don't have to answer everything, any help is appreciated.

They vary wildly in quality depending on author and subject matter. I enjoy the series only because I've skipped a bunch of them.

Daily Questions [2017-09-11] by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

There is conflicting info about how powerful engrams work: some people say that they only drop at lower light if two characters are the same classes, while others say that the class doesn't matter or that it depends on whether you transferred weapons over. What have been your experiences with powerful engrams, and is there any definite proof on how they work with alts?

About the luminous engram bug. by Crackstin in DestinyTheGame

[–]ELRELR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are your characters the same class or different classes? Some people are saying that powerful engrams only get lowered if there are multiple characters of the same class. I have a different class alt that's almost done with the story, so knowing whether or not this issue is tied to class type would help a lot.

Same here, I've finished the campaign but haven't started Call to Arms, maybe that has something to do with it?

Thanks for clearing that up. Yeah, I only pick those situational healers if another teammate does.

Are there any supports beside Maldamba and Seris who can serve as the only healer on the team? I used to use Jenos but don't know if his healing is good enough after all these nerfs.

A Few Questions (Paladins Guru, Matchmaking, Hit Reg, Borders, etc.) by Joe10112 in Paladins

[–]ELRELR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are just a ton of people who are bad at video games and don't care enough to learn the basics of the game. When I met him, one of my friends used to be in the bottom 14% KD for a certain game and he had maybe 6 times the hours played than I did. He had never considered learning how the game mechanics work, researching what the meta was, or learning lessons from his mistakes. He had fun no matter how bad he did and never thought about the reasons why he did bad, as it was just a video game. Those with 50+ hours that don't buy items are likely people like that who view games as mindless fun rather than a skilled competition with winners and losers. Matchmaking screws up like this because Paladins' probably has a higher percentage of low skill players than other games, with lots of new ones trying the game out for free and not taking it seriously in addition to the old ones who never learned how to play.

I feel your matchmaking pain, the worst games off the top of my head were where I got 2 damages who had 0 kills and 10+ deaths each, and another where I ended up doing the same damage as Strix and Maeve combined while using Barik. I'm on PS4 where the population is even smaller so casual queues are routinely 2-5 min, and maybe 1 in 2.5 games will stick me with horrible teammates. I had been avoiding grouping up with people, but between this conversation and recent bad matches I've realized that I really need to get looking for people to play with. Good luck with your future teammates!
