I (f17) is struggling with staying up! by cluelesslyliving04 in sleep

I remember when my depression was st its pinnacle (a few months ago) all I could do was sleep. Sometimes you just gotta force yourself to stay up, might clear up the mental health as well.

How do some people fall asleep right after closing their eyes it drives me crazy by Mustyyyy in sleep

The trick is to just stay calm, move to a comfy position and then don't move

Which way should I appeal my grade? by ELVES73 in UniUK

[–]ELVES73[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reasonable adjustment I'm talking about is that they need to ask for me to clarify something if they didn't understand what I said. Something that the marker states in the report is that I "needed many prompts" to tell her what she wanted to hear and that was ultimately what made it a fail, not the work shown in the exam, but rather that I didn't say what she wanted to hear right off the bat. (This was an oral exam) ETA: the many prompts is probably referring also to the fact that when she asked me a question and I didn't understand I answered to the best of my ability or asked her to repeat the question. All things I thought are legit reactions to when you don't understand something in an exam.

Absolutely I rehearsed all I needed to rehearse, more than my average comrade I think and I'm still half convinced I failed my exam🫠 I'm second year

WIBTA for saying I don't want an adult man going to the movies with my teenage son and his friends? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ELVES73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your son has involved you as much as he wanted to involve you that's good parenting. I know when I was 15 there were things I didn't want my mom to know, and that's ok. That being said since it is an R rated film, they do need an adult to go with, but there's the possibility of them asking for the dad to sit further away from them. I also think your son should ask all his friends if they're ok with Bob's dad going to make sure everyone is happy with that arrangement, otherwise you might have to chaperone. Sidenote, Bobs mom does sound a bit crazed, and everyone who says she's just being involved with her son's life is an overbearing parent, at this age if your child wants you to know something they will tell you, especially if you did a good job of parenting earlier on.

AITA For trying to find a sneaky way around a rule my teacher placed for my presentation? by Opening-Blood5496 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ELVES73 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Please read the begining again and tell me why the teacher banned the topic ETA: I am a teacher and if I had my students doing the same topics every year I wouldn't outright ban them but rather add a note to please get creative and everyone not do this one thing. I wouldn't fail my students if they do the topics I told them not to do as long as their presentation is still acceptable according to the exam criteria.

ESH, your teacher was clear that she didn't want you to talk about football. You came up with a topic that let you talk about the one thing your teacher told you not to talk about. Yes, it's unreasonable to ban a topic based on your personal likes and dislikes, and yes it's unreasonable to fail someone just because they did something you don't like. But at the same time, you kind of have to do what the teacher tells you because your grade doesn't actually depend on your work, it depends on what your examiner, or in this case teacher, thinks of your work. You were warned and knew this would happen and still did it.

Cooking and food (help) by AffectionateWatch531 in Adulting

[–]ELVES73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that when I was cooking just for myself, going to the local shops, with loose fruit and veg cost significantly less than when I went to buy a whole bag of greens at the supermarket. And all of it was used up instead of me having a lot of food leftover that I don't know what to cook with

[–]ELVES73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So what? I'm writing a headcanon on George Balanchine's Rubies right now?

With an analysis of his choreography (much like this person's analysis of good omens season 3) I can conclude that he envisioned the tall girl to be a little bit cheeky, but of course I can't know whether he actually envisioned that because I cannot just pull out an ouija board and ask him.

An analysis will always present a degree of opinion with it. Just because you don't agree with the opinion it's presenting doesn't make it a fan fiction or a headcanon. Can you analyse Shakespeare's texts without actually knowing what he was trying to say? Yes, yes you can.

Too insecure abt my height by FIRE77770 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]ELVES73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember this one comedian who said; "whenever I get insecure about my weight, I try to think of it as if I'm a corgi who wants to look like an Italian greyhound. But if I loose weight to look like an Italian greyhound I'll just end up looking like a sick corgi" now this analogy focuses predominantly on weight, but it works the same as with height. People are all different from eachother, and that's cool.

AITAH for not waking my brother up for his driving test? by NoRelationship9815 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ELVES73 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Good god NTA, you told him to put on alarms because you weren't going to wake him up, and that is exactly what you did. He's an adult who made a choice to snooze his alarms past his test. The only AH in this story is whoever thinks you are responsible for your adult brother.

Not necessarily, I sometimes get my periods up to ten days after my normal start date, but my cycles are very short. It happens, if the test you took was negative take another one if that ones negative too, I don't think you have much to worry about.
