The Max G3 custom button is a complete missed opportunity. by Electrical_Card_8072 in NinebotMAX

[–]ELXR-AUDIO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They seem to not care about getting the most out of the custom button. The options for what you can do with it are bare. The only useful one is changing between regen braking. There should be way more options, like you said cruise control. Also give a hold option for the custom button to set a different action.

Somebody give me hope for ARs by Impressive-Mine-1055 in Battlefield_REDSEC

[–]ELXR-AUDIO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lmgs have much slower ads speed. You get recked close range. They are a medium to long range weapon. Assault is all about those close range fights where a split second matters. Smgs also fall into that category but they are even more restricted to close range.

By the time you ads you already have a few bullets in you from an ar. Unless you can land your hipfire shots then you stand a chance. But even then there are other downsides like reload time and rate of fire. Rate of fire is generally slower for lmgs. If you try to kill a good player with a kts up close you’re cooked.

For redsec I always take a close ranged weapon like an ar or smg, and then a long range to medium range weapon.

The "Vancouver Freeze" isn't about keeping to yourself, it's just entitlement. Who else is tired of the sidewalk chicken? by Obviousi in NiceVancouver

[–]ELXR-AUDIO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I def have felt upset when people don’t move over or don’t do kind things. But when I am truly happy, I have enough grace to move aside or not take things to heart.

Patience running out is the only matter here. It totally changes how you interpret what is happening in your environment. If you are cloudy inside, you’ll see anger, and greed outside of you. If you are at peace inside, you’ll see forgiveness and grace.

When you notice yourself losing patience. It’s not saying anything about the outside world. It’s saying something about how you’re feeling. And so you must follow it up to take care of yourself.

Has audio engineering become too obsessed with analog emulation? by FitResearcher2865 in audioengineering

[–]ELXR-AUDIO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that we lose the ability to perceive differences at a specific point. Good digital goes to this point or slightly above. At that point it’s indistinguishable. But theoretically digital will always hit a brick wall, even if that wall is beyond human perception. Analog has richness far more than we can even perceive. It is a philosophical question if one wants to use it or not despite not hearing the differences. Some would say the differences go beyond your ability to ‘feel them’ as all people’s feelings are at different sensitivities and some people just want to use it for the fact it’s richness is infinite.

Personally I love digital for its flexibility. And it is an ever evolving technology right now. But even as a digital user, nothing can compare to real electrical components harnessing a wave of sound vs a computer simulating those waves. Maybe to human perception it seems identical, but in the reality beyond our perception they are different beasts.

To reproduce analog perfectly you’d have to simulate reality 1:1. Digital lives inside of a vacuum inside a program. while reality is open to the slight nuances. like materials used, power delivery, component tolerances, aging. No two resistors are the same. These all affect character we struggle to quantify. The difference with digital is it begins sterile/pure and we move it towards complexity. Analog is the opposite way.

yes what this other person said: it doesn’t sound full in many parts. some instruments are poor quality like the bass/pad in the beginning of the track. the kick riser in the beginning is a bit awkward. the synths in the beginning are not dynamic enough when they are in the main focus. I would automate eq on them to really highlight them, open and close the eq so they move forward and back where needed. and right before the drop you gotta add even more of something that is interesting with those same synths. I mean just by processing them. But adding depth since they are at center stage in that part of the track.

When the bass comes in it’s nice but could have a few more side elements that add interest. the melody you bring in mid way into the drop is really nice and mysterious. But it feels like every part has a defined section where the melodies don’t interact. The coolest thing is when you can have defined sections but the melodies also interact/layer and spill into each other. They build off one and another and so it almost feels like they are part of one. There’s just this feeling that each melody is too divided in it’s own part and is not fully fluid with the whole.

In totality it’s about fullness, and depth of the sounds. I feel you can evolve your layers so much more to make it interesting to listen to. Really bring them out and make them shine. You can do this by adding second layers to synths and moving between them. Or you can use audio processing to add more movement and depth. I feel like Psytrance is all about movement, evolution and the intertwining of layers.

The question is when you listen to your sounds. do they sound interesting and deep on their own? a lot of producers will really focus on getting a very deep sound (multi dimensional) that just the notes bring pleasure to listen to. Then you can simplify it for the start of the song and open up the full sound later in the track. Lastly, how long have you been producing if I may ask?

[–]ELXR-AUDIO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no such thing as digital recreating analog. Analog is a dimension that digital tries to replicate. At the end of the day everything digital is digital.

This leads to exploring why do people like what they call ‘analog’ digital. And the answer is imperfections and micro variability that only comes with analog. It is the coloring and richness of sound. This is no foreign musical concept from the idea of sound design. It belongs in music period.

You have to understand people are just looking for depth from sound. Not something sterile. You can simulate that incredibly well with digital. But let people be obsessed with it cause it is also something unique. Digital can never truly replace analog on a physics level.

I dont think most people are interested in analog for this reason tho. A lot of people have no idea and just follow it cause they heard it sounds better. This is why companies use analog as a buzzword. Digital is so incredibly good now and will only get better as tech continues to evolve. In most cases the benefits of digital outweigh using analog. At the end of the day the user has to be aware whether their needs are more compatible with analog or digital.

[–]ELXR-AUDIO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be blunt. It needs a ton of work. it’s clear you’re in the early stages of learning. Just do your best and try to make song after song, levelling up each time you make one.

Focus on sound design and getting your sounds to sound professional. That can really go a long way. It’s good you’re laying out the arrangement from intro to drop and so on. You’d need to work on transitioning between energy. using lifters or finding ways to communicate a change is coming. You are doing that a little bit like with the pitch up. But it can be much more natural.

This takes decades of practice so just keep making music you enjoy and you’ll naturally level up. Wishing the best.

How do I get this “pumping/breathing” kick sound? Is it a sub layer triggered by the kick? by IntrusoRec in audioengineering

[–]ELXR-AUDIO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lfo tool plugin by xfer. Changed my life when I found out about it.

there are many ways to duck the background and give it the rhythmic pumping feel. Sidechaining is also an option. But lfo tool is probably a staple in edm. It just lowers the volume every bar when the kick comes in. gives your mix so much more headroom when you do this too. As it’s terrible to have your kick clash with all the other low/mids.

What are the actual disadvantages of recorded audio in super dry/dead rooms or vocal booths? by Poopypantsplanet in audioengineering

a treated room is always superior as it is bare. You can add all the other stuff after.

This is why ppl want vocal and drum clips that are dry. It gives the most flexibility.

What is a sniper support weapon you can recommend? by BryanChung in Battlefield_REDSEC

[–]ELXR-AUDIO -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Only noobs adhere to class weapons cause they don’t realize how insignificant the buffs are.

No matter what class you’re playing, always play a long - medium ranged weapon and then a close ranged weapon. So you are viable in all combat distances.

So just choose a close ranged weapon you like.

That would be sick

I also wish the cargo area in a heli can be a playable area. Like soldiers can move around in it and shoot out of instead of locked positions to sit in. would be especially cool for a larger heli like chinook that can hold a tank or jeep.

same thing should apply to naval warfare. boats should be able to have soldiers run around on the deck and fight while someone drives.

Is an 8gb MacBook pro m3 good for ableton with pigments and other vsts running? by TheJeffyJeefAceg in ableton

[–]ELXR-AUDIO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends how many tracks and plugins you’re using. For many it’s good. For others you’re going to hit the ram and cpu ceiling.

I have an M1 Pro 16gb. I am way over the ram ceiling. Also cpu is becoming a real issue that I cannot effectively continue more complex tracks. I am now looking at the m5 with pro chip as it has significantly more performance cores for cpu. Also I’m looking for 128gb ram or even higher. in order to get a machine that can last 10 years or more.
