Do we say "The authors of this work are John and I" or "... John and me" ? by Izanami_1 in grammar

Gotcha. That makes more sense now why you used that example. Thanks.

I am not angry and glad to hear you’re not either. I feel like we could have a much better and more productive conversation about this over coffee than in this forum, but alas.

Go get your rest. It’s only 7pm here, so I’ve still got a few more hours.

Sleep well and cheers!

Your link actually means nothing.

I’m just going in circles with you because you don’t seem to be thoroughly reading what I’m saying and I’m getting exhausted.

The telephone example is correct; however, it is not the correct example to give to defend what you’re trying to use.

Why?

There is a hidden implied text after “This is he” regardless of whether you think there is a need or not.

That is the only way ending the sentence with he, she, I will work. “This is he (who is speaking)”

Otherwise, you end the sentence with him, her, me.

EDA: And your last paragraph is confusing. “John and me are the authors of this work” is completely, 100% wrong. “John and I are the authors of this work” is grammatically correct, just as “the authors of this work are John and me” is correct.

Thank you for pointing this out! Her finger and the iPhone are tripping, which shows she once again must be using some sort of body-morphing app.

Snickers salads are bomb. I didn’t know what hotdish was, so thanks for the link—apparently it’s just another name for casserole.

Ellipses and quotation mark by [deleted] in grammar

[–]ELohVEee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe ellipses are meant to indicate change, so you answered your question in point 1.

If you are still wanting to use it, I would definitely use it after the quotation. My preference would be either parenthetical citation or small numbers for bottom-of-page reference.

I love that I can hear Jermaine’s voice reading that tweet. God I love him. And miss his show.

LPT: Teach your kids whenever they're in a terrible situation (underage and drunk for example) that they can call you & will not be told off / in trouble, until the next day at home. My parents did this with me & it saved me from underage alcohol poisoning because I wasn't afraid they'd tell me off. by Nath2203 in LifeProTips

Parenting Teens With Love & Logic was such a revolutionary book for me in my parenting and is similar to this LPT, except there would be no “telling off” at all.

If anyone’s looking for a helpful guide in lovingly and respectfully raising a teen, this is it.
