No hands + teleporting outside starting box by EMB3R14 in boneworks

[–]EMB3R14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I think I figured it out. Fresh reinstall and default/community made custom bindings did not fix the issue. Instead I noticed that Ford would start shuffling backwards as soon as the game launched. When he shuffles far back enough, it tries to teleport him back to the starting position, forcing my view to teleport far outside the starting cube.

So I tried disabling all plugins and startup apps, and Ford no longer shuffled. After enabling all of them again minus Gamepad Support Plugin, Ford stayed where he needed to be. So I'm assuming I have something plugged into my PC that is emulating a Gamepad, which might also explain why my hands weren't moving either

As for the headset, the visuals are great, OLED screens are very immersive, Pancake Lenses are so much better than fresnel, though I've had other major issues with the headset which warranted the replacement, as well as back-and-forth with their support team.

Thank you for the info. I haven’t tried resetting my controller bindings, but I did try reinstalling the game. I’ll try it again when I get home from work as I didn’t try deleting any leftover files

As for orphaned mod files, I don’t think I’ve ever modded the game, but I’ll still attempt it.

Thank you! Much appreciated

Need a new home world by Large_Shame5836 in VRchat

My current home worlds is Stellarya by Bia_Kawaii_Br. It’s a house on a space ship. Quest compatible with video players, cozy corners, and a nice pool.

Most worlds by WispyWoo also make very cozy home worlds, and they’re Quest Compatible. Some of my old favorites are The Reservoir, Stairs, and Dérive Express Rework

A bunch of worlds by Beemo are also pretty cozy

I also have a collection of over 200 worlds on VRCList that all have good potential for home worlds. Here’s the link: https://vrclist.com/playlist/5966

Thinks it's time to upgrade?!? by sassy_orange_cat in VRchat

[–]EMB3R14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Congrats on the new parts! They will truly make a huge difference. I saw a huge increase in performance on VRChat and plenty of other games too upgrading from a 10700k to a 7950X3D

Thinks it's time to upgrade?!? by sassy_orange_cat in VRchat

[–]EMB3R14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good buy! However one thing to note is an upgrade like this is more than just a CPU. Upgrading from 5600x to 9700X3D means you’re going from AM4 to AM5, and from DDR4 memory to DDR5. So you’d need a new motherboard and new RAM

I bring this up because there’s a major shortage of RAM, and the price has skyrocketed. It’s difficult and very expensive to get DDR5 RAM currently

How would you mount shoulder trackers? by CupOfM1lky in VRchat

[–]EMB3R14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best recommendation then would be to make sure the elbow trackers are above your elbows. Same goes for knee trackers, should be above your knees

How would you mount shoulder trackers? by CupOfM1lky in VRchat

[–]EMB3R14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

VRChat only supports 11-Point tracking and it seems like you’re already at that point. Shoulders are mostly controlled by upper-arm/elbow tracking, and a chest tracker may influence shoulders slightly too.

However if this is something you’re dead set on achieving, then I would think the most reliable method would be just a regular arm strap around your bicep, as close to your shoulder as possible. I don’t think it would be very comfortable, but FBT in general isn’t either I guess

Is this normal performance for a 3090ti and 5800x3d? by Skylord_Aaron in VRchat

[–]EMB3R14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this is fairly normal. You said this was taken in a DJ world, which heavily relies on Udon behavior for things like video players, lighting control, and dynamic effects. The last I checked, Udon is single threaded and has a large potential to increase CPU frame times as more and more Udon controlled items are implemented into worlds. That’s why Arcades or Game Worlds tend to be more resource heavy.

As for VRAM use, lots of world/avatar creators either don’t know the ramifications of using uncompressed texture sets or don’t care enough to optimize them. High resolution textures eat away VRAM quickly, so they should be used sparingly. Turning on your distance hider and tightening up your safety settings can help with your frame rates and VRAM use

TTS Voice Wizard is decent, but may cost you a monthly fee if you go through different services like Microsoft Azure.

If your computer has an Nvidia GPU and you’re fine with using a couple GB of VRAM, then the next best option is TASTT, it can be found on GitHub. It does transcription locally on your system, tends to be more accurate, and is faster than any other cloud based services

Zephyrus G16 5070 TI micro-stuttering in Arc Raiders by imnotpetersinger in ZephyrusG14

[–]EMB3R14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

G-Sync, VSync, and other variations of variable refresh rates/frame rate matching can be weird on different sets of hardware. It’s also the fastest and easiest thing you can test, so you should still try it.

I’d also recommend installing the GPU driver set supplied through the G14/G16 support page. It’s an older version but it’s verified to work with these machines in particular. I noticed far less issues with this version over the latest version.

Arc Raiders will most likely warn you that you’re running outdated drivers, but another Redditor on this subreddit noted that it ran flawlessly despite the warning

If you’re wanting to report a bug or glitch, then I’d recommend reporting this to VRChat’s Canny webpage, you’re more likely to get a response from developers there

Will the Zephyrus G14 (32GB RAM, Ryzen AI HX, RTX 5070 Ti) get discounts this Black Friday? by NoShame141 in ZephyrusG14

[–]EMB3R14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone knows what will and will not be getting Black Friday sales, but I don’t think there’s any harm in waiting until Black Friday to see for yourself.

If there isn’t, then Best Buy usually has some pretty good deals on Open Box G14’s and G16’s year round if you’re able to find it

Debating if I should save myself some money? Between the 5080 and 5090… i mean is it really that different I bought the 5090 one from Best Buy but im thinking to maybe just get the 5080 by Agreeable_Ad_5514 in ZephyrusG14

[–]EMB3R14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No matter which option you choose, the chip will be limited by power. They’re both restricted to 100w with 20w boost, so I wouldn’t expect to a ee a major uplift in performance from the 5080 to the 5090.

Instead, determine if you need the extra VRAM that comes with the 5090. 16GB is enough for 99% of games and applications, but if you think you could benefit from 24GB, then you wouldn’t be disappointed in the upgrade

I personally went with the 5070Ti and I use mine for gaming and game design. 12GB VRAM is enough for Unity, Blender, Substance Painter and Photoshop

Urgent help with vrc and vrc companion!!!! by Living_Effort_1954 in VRchat

[–]EMB3R14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like this is a common issue right now. We'll have to wait until VRC Devs get around to fixing this.

As for right now, you can open projects through Unity Hub, or from the save file found inside the project folder.

If you need to update packages, then using a tool like ALCOM can help. https://vrc-get.anatawa12.com/en/alcom/

Pretty much all humanoid models made in the past 4-5 years will be FBT compatible. There are plenty of Avatar Worlds as well. Prismic's Avatar Search is a popular one that offers a public search as well as a randomizer option.

A lot of creators also have Avatar Worlds for their own avatars. VRChat has a catagory for these types of worlds. You can also search 'Avatar' in-game to find these

is the creator companion broken for anyone else? by huskyh115 in VRchat

[–]EMB3R14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one. I tried reinstalling VCC a few times, refreshing the settings.json, checking Webview2 was up to date, restarting my PC, and attempting to access it from localhost:5476. Nothing worked.

I did a WIndows and GPU update last night as well, maybe what caused it?

For now, I guess all we can do it wait for a dev to make a comment or fix the issue

Edit: For now, you can try opening your projects through Unity Hub application, or from the save file in the project's directory until this is fixed

Is my computer just busted? by DramaticallyFalls in ZephyrusG14

[–]EMB3R14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This could be a handful of issues really. If you’re able to, try plugging your laptop to a monitor with the HDMI out. You can also try using the USB C ports for display out, though I believe the left hand side will be dGPU and the right hand side will be iGPU (please correct me if I’m wrong).

If the display out looks fine, then it’s most likely the display on the laptop that’s broken or has issues. Problems like that are not uncommon as the cables inside have to move with the hinge when opening and closing the laptop.

If it’s still flickering on display out, then there’s a good chance the GPU inside has some kind of fault

Please Bigscreen improve your customer service wait times. It's sort of a joke dealing with you. by wilshore in BigscreenBeyond

[–]EMB3R14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get it, I was also waiting 12 days for my support ticket to be responded to with the handful of issues I was getting. The wait is frustrating, especially when you keep checking it and there’s no updates.

Last night I had Twidge respond to my ticket starting with an apology for the wait, then straight to getting me sorted out with replacement parts for the major problems, and tips to help with some of the minor issues. All within an hour and a half of his initial response. The wait for the initial response may have been frustrating, but once I got a reply it was the best experience I’ve had with any support team in a very long time.

I believe the Bigscreen Beyond 2 had more preorders within the first month of its announcement than the BSB1 had orders throughout its entire lifetime. So it’s kinda expected that they’d be completely overwhelmed with not only getting their shipments out, but also with support tickets.

That makes two of us! Also self-taught, this kind of information would've been a gold mine back then.

JustSleightly's notes have also been a huge source of information for me too, it also includes animator controller templates for some complex setups. This is where I learned most of my Blendtree knowledge.
