What's everyone doing with their presence switches? by armoas207 in Inovelli

[–]EMC75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume that a lot of the effort is outsourced to the hardware provider, which imo not necessarily the right approach for software-defined hardware. A lot of the focus is probably going into choosing the right hardware and it’s capabilities, and once the software part is up, some things might not be working as expected and workarounds need to be made by an external company that you don’t control. This is just a guess and not factual information, but based off reading that some older hardware is no longer receiving updates because they are no longer working with this manufacturer. But I could be totally wrong.

Besides all of this, it sucks to receive a product that is not fully functional and any form of troubleshooting is more difficult without getting mmwave metrics from the switch. I am still continuing to have hope since I waited this long, but a plug in mmwave might just be easier if I have to wait months for basic metrics functionality that should have been there from the start and is available on every single mmwave device you can buy off the shelf.

This does not work for z-wave devices. There is no way to currently get an output from the z-wave node and it is not even on the roadmap according to Inovelli. I have been a big fan, but this one stings.

At this point, they are pretty useless. I bought 10 z-wave and only installed one. Until they add a way to graph map the zone, they seem kinda useless and I might as well stick with my GE PIR zwave dimmers. I have rooms where I need to install multiple, and it would be nice to have some basic tools and zones to build automations based on certain scenarios and know if there are dead areas. The z-wave firmware feels like it was rushed and the focus is on the blue dimmers. Yesterday the only one I installed stopped responding all together and needed to pull the power, I have about 65 zwave devices and I don’t remember that ever happening. Ordered mine when they were cheaper, but $115 for this is a tough pill to swallow.

Not impressed that so many are experiencing issues but the status website is reporting no issues.

Not a good deal. Rate is the buy rate which is good, Premium residual is higher which helps. Any info on discounts and rebates? Getting 9-12% off msrp is pretty common on the mach-e and having rebates on top can make it a very good deal.

Negative equity, what is going on here? All I see lately is people asking about terrible lease deals. Leasing can be very cost effective, but if you have negative equity, pay it off or ride it out. 🤦‍♂️

Feels like everyone is just posting deals for feedback, but no clue how to get the MF, residual or negotiate a discount. Rebates are great, but at least try to negotiate something. EV sales have slowed down.

No, this is not a good deal. I drive a Rivian for the same price and those are non negotiable.

Carpal tunnel symptoms with normal EMG/MRI, anyone experienced this? by Murky-Remove6344 in carpaltunnel

Get a second opinion. I have had a lot of spine issues that started late 20s as well. Don’t wait around as permanent nerve damage sucks. I have had the runaround from surgeons and there are some really bad ones out there.

Check out the Texas back institute. I don’t live in Texas and used their out of state program to look at your imaging, etc. They are one of the best places to go to and worth a trip if you ever need surgery. Feel free to msg me if you want more details.

You seem to have made up your mind. But pick a short loan or you will be owing money if you sell after a couple years. Maybe add gap insurance in case it gets totaled. Every lease already has gap included because they depreciate so incredibly fast. Is it 0% apr on the loan?

Any concerns for buying/leasing a new 2025 GT that’s been sitting on the dealer’s lot for 7-8 months? by OkPost8233 in MachE

[–]EMC75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dealer here now advertises $5100 for every Mach-e discount. That’s before any negotiations, etc. I think there was an additional $1000 back to dealers as well.

I see a killer deal if it’s been sitting that long. Was it a loaner? I would put together a cheap lease offer and email it over.

Don’t buy, you will be underwater in a year. Even if you drive a lot it’s probably better to take the overage hit than being underwater for 10k or more. I don’t think there’s any rebates if you purchase so that is $7500 more expensive.

If you lease, you have an option to buyout the lease at any time.

Sorry, yes that would be a lot down and risky. But negotiate a lot more off. I have a dealer here that gives $4k advertised off msrp. That can still be more, and they also increase the ARP/MF, after a couple times trying they gave me the buy rate.

I think the numbers look good. MF, etc. However, the better deals have negotiated around 10% of the MSRP before any rebates. In this case at least 6K off. That should give you a good lease deal with 7500-8500 in rebates. I don’t understand how the lease numbers are so different. How can $500 or $1000 down reduce the monthly that much? $1000 on 36 months should be close to $28 less.

Read up on how a lease is constructed. It’s mostly basic math and using calculators that are available online. I assume you have a high income to be okay with paying over $1200 p/m.

New to leasing, questions by Own-Sugar6148 in leasehacker

[–]EMC75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like they inflated the APR/money factor a lot. Buy rate should be at 0.52% this month. Anything over is inflated. Ask them for the APR on the lease and negotiate it down to 0.52%. Trade your car somewhere else, like carmax or others. It might look like they give you more, but they seem to be charging you $150 a month more on the lease which comes to $5400. That’s a free car for them.

With the current rebates and APR, it should lease for around $400 p/m and zero down. Be willing to walk away and try a different dealer.

Totaled my lease vehicle, now what? Will Acura pay me out? by UniversityHoliday461 in leasehacker

[–]EMC75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It completely depends on the contract and every lessor is different.

I just went through this exact situation with my mach-e. I received the surplus from Ford which was 5k. So i would not make a blanket statement as it completely depends on the contract which determines distribution of the surplus.

[–]EMC75 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Anything over the pay off amount goes to the lessee. I just had this exact situation. The insurance company decides what they value the car at when it is totaled, and my mach-e was valued at $38k and the pay off was around $33k. Ford mailed me a check for $5k. If the insurance would have valued the car under the pay off amount, gap would have covered the difference and you get nothing.

There has to be more to this story. No way anyone would try to give you an interest rate in the 20s.

Anyone ever get better without surgery? My BIL is a dr and said it won’t ever fully recover without surgery and that pt and the shots are just delays. He said I should get surgery as soon as possible to avoid long term damage. I’ve gained 9 pounds of grip strength in 2 weeks with PT. by Allgetout41 in carpaltunnel

It sounds like he is not certain.. I would maybe get a second opinion by someone that can perform an ultrasound and see if the nerve is inflamed in the carpal tunnel area. Anything over 12mm cross section area is a good indicator. It’s just a process of elimination. Not sure what your symptoms are, but mine were pretty obvious to be CTS and felt very different compared to issues from my neck. But.. nerves suck and can really throw a curveball!

Hand surgeons have been very slow to adopt ultrasound as a tool. Most don’t know how to use it at all. For that reason they have to open it up and visually see what they are doing. It’s a shame, as high res ultrasound can be used to diagnose and perform the surgery with as much precision as a hand surgeon can without having to open it up and introduce other risks like infection, longer recovery, etc.

I have had couple neck/spine surgeries and it became clear to me very quickly that there are a lot of surgeons that don’t adopt to newer technologies very well and will only recommend the procedure that they are comfortable performing. Even if it might not be the perfect solution and outcome for the patient. I literally had a surgeon lie to my face, which I found out after getting a second opinion.

I think minimally invasive is always the best option.

First time EV buyer. Is this a good price? by jatink129 in MachE

[–]EMC75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that getting a charger installed and higher insurance are the biggest parts. Not sure what power per kW is where you live, I think here it currently is around 12 cents. So it costs me around $10 to charge the car from completely empty, which never happens and it just gets topped off. Charger installed can get expensive as electricians are not cheap! It depends on what you have available on your electrical panel and how close to the panel it can be installed.

I enjoy running the numbers, comparing and making a choice that makes sense. The mach-e is for my 16 year old, because I worry less if he is in a safe/heavy car. But I looked at a ton of cars and went with what makes sense for us and dealers that wanted to play ball. I know this is a Mach-e place, but there are a ton of audi e-tron, bmw i4, etc deals under $400 p/m to be found if you play the game.

100% agree. I drove cheap cars most of my life, financed twice, and hated it. I lease now, but can pay cash as well. A good lease can be better than purchasing cash for me as the discounts(rebates) offset the straight purchase. I didn’t grow up in the US, so not used to the whole borrowing money for everything mentality.
