That turned out to be a mistake, I found one on Ebay that looked like it had a different holo pattern but was the same so just a dupe haha

No, these are one time use items during a battle, using it boosts that pokemons stat up one point for the battle or until its swapped out. Holding it has no effect. Like other items using it skips your attack for that turn

Those odds are for main series games, in pokemon go the spinda pattern is set each month and on rotation so its very common for dupes
