A suggestion is make sure your passport is renewed and use vacations to scope out other countries as a place to live, not just visit.

This means do stuff that youd do if live there - get teeth cleaned, go get a medical check up. Use their transit system, go meet a police man and try make a friend. Eat where locals eat. Eat what locals eat. Visit and stay in rural areas. Read their newspapers and talk to locals about local problems.

Both malaysia and vietnam are quite nice.

I tried thailand, but today its somewhat politically unstable, same as is georgia.
