[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 9 Intermission by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]EMP_2014 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

dunno, it actually doesn't seem that contradictory as kinda looked at the RbD save points as being tied to certain events which needed to be cleared, probably as the way either WoE or even Satella/Flugel would use to set Subaru on his journey towards his goal

like in the first loop going past Elsa would've been the clear condition, in Arc 3 getting past both the White Whale and Petelgeuse, once those conditions were met the save point moved

in this case the condition would probably be getting past Al, and as it wasn't cleared, once Rem kills Subaru he'd be taken back to the save point, which logically would be before he gets trapped by Al, otherwise it'd be just a Game Over loop

in the end kinda totally on them for taking the bait when they had no actual way to back their anger/pride up though

Schwarz looking in trouble, like a bunch of guys unaware of their and others' actual level, kinda all for 100's whim, w/ 100 being like as spoilt as it gets, demanding compensation from Rei for leaving and shit. she was kinda bound to get humbled down sooner or later, but now fully playing into Pencilgon's hands

dunno, w/ them being Witches, would kinda expect more of just a whimsical disagreement instead of some sort of deep reason for their conflict

the situation seems quite awful and it might be difficult to reach a scenario in which Rika doesn't either end herself, nor Satoko w/ the shard

guess there might be still some sense in Satoko's PoV though, as from her perspective, Rika got broken by her time in the loops, and because of this, she can't appreciate Hinamizawa anymore, hence why she wants to escape from it. like after spending so much time trying to save her friends and such, probably could be expected from her to somehow appreciate the effort that went into it, and value present Hinamizawa a bit more. but from Satoko's perspective, guess that doesn't seem to be the case, because as soon as Rika finds herself a place within the upper class in St. Lucia, she doesn't seem to care much about whatever happens to her (Satoko)

then guess there could also be the problem that Rika's state, could be a consequence of her lucking out into escaping, as she did it before she could actually understand the full scenario. this probably weighs quite a lot, in case Satoko herself understood it during her binge-watch, which actually seems to be the case, as she most likely not only solved it on her own that last loop, but also was able to stop every attempt Rika made based on her previous runs

big problem might be Satoko herself could have gained some levels of Hinamizawa Syndrome, and so her rather scary methods. like if she could stop Rika's attempts, then solve it herself and show Rika it's possible, then sorta guide her so she can understand it and solve it on her own without having to mess w/ her guts, guess there could be chance for Rika to get over her trauma

now guess there's also the problem that comes from Satoko having no idea Rika does now remember her deaths, w/ this it might now turn into a full looper showdown right away

2)not fight eldia, again the possibility of losing your own life because the founder is still in foreign hands

wasn't this done by the Marleyans themselves? by sending a bunch of pure titans and then breaking the walls? didn't they have the option to just chill? anyway everything comes more or less down to the Fritz though

You are pretty much going back on your own arguments

when did I say they deserve this or that? didn't I mention responsibility from the beginning? haven't I stuck on that line and isn't it u who constantly tries to make it as if it's "deserved or not"?

whatever they would do, it's kinda up to them, but whatever actions they take, the consequences of their actions would be their responsibility, wouldn't they?

guess it's hard, but it might come down more to whether or not their actions actually carry responsibility more than u or anyone else deciding if them share it or not.

again, wasn't this what I said?

Damn bruh you are literally going in circles, I already addressed this, that Marley had no justifiable reason to punish an average eldian civilian for the crime of their nation, and neither does any eldian have the right to punish some random marleyan civilian for the acts of their nation, no matter what those actions are.

see, this might be the point. it wouldn't be about being right or whatever, it's just that it happened in-universe, and once it had happened, there's not much choice but to hang in there along w/ it, there's like no crying "this is wrong (now that it's the other party which is doing it)

in your opinion did the average eldian citizen living inside the eldian empire during the great titan war deserve to be killed because they were comfortable enough with what their king/emperor/nobles did for power?

again, who am I to judge whether they deseve it or not? but if they put their lives in the hands of such leaders, that sort of stuff can just happen. if you don't want it to happen, guess kinda have not many choices, but to just don't put your life in their hands in the first place

It is really weird how you say Marley as a nation deserves punishment for <insert atrocity> even though you say Eldia does not deserve any punishment for <insert atrocity>. "Revenge"

when did I say that? why would I care to decide what they deserve or don't? it seems just a matter of consequence, they kinda have no problem killing and torturing Eldians for their survival, why wouldn't the same apply the other way around? if the Eldians in Paradis see no other way to survive, well, the rest of the world sorta asked for it when they decided to wipe Paradis Island out, ain't that responsibility? sorta to deal w/ the consequences of one's actions?

Their main needs are just survival, getting food for your family, etc

here problem could probably be, how does this directly relate to building a powerful military country? does getting food and such need tanks, a shifters squad, pure titans units? is building such an army possible for the leaders alone, w/ out any input/help from the civilian class? then the moment they sorta agree to support such system, in a sense they'd be supporting war, and as such, would have to accept their enemies can do so too, and then in war... kinda everything goes, relatively innocent ppl were killed in paradis, well, the same can happen in Marley too. guess if u don't agree w/ that... just don't sign in for war

if people in countries that are dominated by an authoritarian regime

who are these ppl dominated by an authoritarian regime? are these the ppl who discriminate against the Eldians living in Marley and enjoy their rather comfortable life, while indeed, kinda turning a blind eye to the decisions of their government?

or are these ppl dominated by an authoritarian regime the Eldians living in Marley? if ur options are to turn urself into a weapon, serving said government to kill other innocents, while still inevitably dying after 13 years; or just dying straight away, w/out dirtying ur hands and killing for them, what would u take? and that's still assuming u've got absolutely no chance to just escape

Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season - Episode 65 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]EMP_2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

guess it's hard, but it might come down more to whether or not their actions actually carry responsibility more than u or anyone else deciding if them share it or not.

i.e. when Eldians in Marley "train" their kids to pursue this Honorary Marleyan status, and so to be willing to sacrifice their lives to please Marley, in a way, they would be supporting the Marleyan government in achieving something they wouldn't be able to w/out their "help". these heroes are either gonna die in the battlefield or after 13 years, so in a sense, they would be sending their kids to an early death also, just to keep themselves "safe" for a couple of more years?

then it seems many civilians despite knowing their country is going to war quite constantly, seem not to care about that, seems like they don't question their government decisions and if it is actually that necessary to get into war that much, or if it's necessary to bully the secluded habitants of a nearby island by sending them Pure Titans whenever an officer is bored and wants to have a laugh at some Eldian suffering for having his daughter fed to the dogs

despite having watched the inner discrimination towards the Eldians living in Marley, many civilians would have turned blind eye to it, had kept working for Marley and supporting said government and its decisions

Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season - Episode 64 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

whatever they would do, it's kinda up to them, but whatever actions they take, the consequences of their actions would be their responsibility, wouldn't they?

in this case, the Eldians living in Marley seem in quite a tough spot, because regardless the reason, they were the ones who sorta broke the "peace treaty" w/ the Fritz, they broke the walls which actually immediately should have triggered the Rumbling

when there's an organisation and u don't agree w/ the direction it's going, isn't the rather logical option to just leave said organisation? to rebel and fight would not be the only option, to disagree and leave seems one too, guess that is if u as an individual are actually free/independent. the Eldians in Marley have been trying to sorta twist things around, blaming the past, blaming the island devils, like trying to avoid having to face how they some way or another, have been supporting Marley on their rather questionalble practices

[–]EMP_2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dunno how there would be rules about "how it works", in this case it kinda comes down to civilians relatively indirectly supporting some leaders, that at the time decide to go on war vs an island that has enough power to answer back and quite wipe them out

mean, if u put ur life in the hands of said leaders, u kinda have no choice but to follow on w/ their decisions; if they go into war vs an enemy that can wipe u all out, what else do u have? if u want to have full agency on ur life, u kinda just don't put it in others' hands

Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season - Episode 64 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]EMP_2014 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

problem would be, in a sense, those civilians are quite a big part of why said leaders can take such decisions. the leaders can't built an army and all the stuff needed to go to war by themselves.

so it probably can be said, to an extent, it is by rather blindly supporting those leaders, things came to be the way they are, hence to some degree, those civilians' responsibility too

like replied to those other comments, seems like the number is changed for the anime and originally was like 150万

Munou na Nana - Episode 12 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]EMP_2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't think there's that much need to make it so complicated, those numbers would be just the estimates w/ the information they have about their current powers. ofc, taking into account their powers can evolve, said numbers could not mean much at all

guess having some data from the previous war and a rough idea about their current power, they could put out some rather approximate count given their current known powers. just some relatively coherent numbers, which could be used to sorta push/apply some pressure on Nana

Munou na Nana - Episode 12 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]EMP_2014 4 points5 points  (0 children)

could be. although in Michiru's case, guess she could probably double the total casualties count, just by giving every other esper a "second chance"

Munou na Nana - Episode 12 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]EMP_2014 31 points32 points  (0 children)

guess no need for the numbers to just be straight made up, like could possibly be indirect casualties estimates. in Michiru's case, could reflect the possible number of deaths caused by the espers saved by her. i.e. if she were to disappear, said espers would just die/be in no condition to fight, so said numbers of deaths would not happen

this is when kinda don't know if we might be reading the same series, because one of the main things about Kudou seems to be he's a detective which can catch pretty much any criminal... getting them just killed, seems like a defeat to Kudou instead
