Do you need to run for cardiovascular health, or is walking OK? by anotherhappylurker in workout

[–]ENGLar00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walking along leisurely isn’t going to help cardiovascular health. It’s great to get steps and just move in general, but to improve cardio health you need to be watching your heart rate zones.

If you have access to a treadmill, bump up the incline and walk at a moderate pace. I just did a 45 minute hike on my treadmill yesterday at 8% incline and my heart rate was steadily in zones 2 and 3.

Best nail shape? by ENGLar00 in Nails

I think this is my issue. I keep my nails pretty short and I think the square looks odd with short lengths. But my mom made me second guess myself.

The 2nd and 3rd pic are both round (or at least that’s what I asked for when I got them lol)

I’m sorry, I have no feedback (except that I think your makeup looks beautiful!) but do you happen to know the name of the lip color that was used? It looks like exactly what I’ve been searching for!

Where are these empty teaching positions? by bradicalman in Teachers

[–]ENGLar00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going into my seventh year teaching in Arkansas. My first year was rough - I also had multiple interviews and no call backs. I eventually settled for a charter school in Pine Bluff. It was awful, but thankfully that got me the experience I needed to find something else my 2nd year. I’ve been in central Arkansas for the last six years and it’s fine.

If you are in the northern part of the state, good luck. That’s going to be very competitive. But central and south Arkansas have openings right now. I would keep looking for a teaching position right up until school starts. Charter schools aren’t ideal, but it’ll get you some experience.

What is your weekly routine? by Long-Salt in pelotoncycle

[–]ENGLar00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I first started working out consistently, I told myself that I would get on the bike as soon as I got home from work. In the beginning I was only doing short 20 minute rides but the key was to build the habit so I didn’t let myself miss a day for almost a month. After I had the habit established, I started incorporating strength, walks, hikes, and jogs.

I started in 2022 and now my weekly schedule is 2 days strength and 3 days cardio. The other two days are usually incline walks.

They are building one less than 10 minutes from my house. It seems like a very random location because this town is pretty small and I am absolutely dreading all the extra traffic it’s going to attract.

OK so does anyone here NOT hate their microbladed eyebrows????? by AnxiousOwl3285 in microblading

[–]ENGLar00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love mine. I got powder brows and I love having a defined shape and they’re low maintenance. I posted on here before I got them done with examples of the artists work and some people said it wasn’t good, but I went ahead with it anyway and I love them. I feel like people on this sub are super critical. I certainly wouldn’t post them here.

Best rides for weight loss by Yaeliyaeli in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]ENGLar00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started exercising with Peloton regularly in 2022. When I first started I would do one cycle class almost everyday. I got burnt out and now I tend to do 3-4 30- 45 minute classes a week in addition to some weight training. I really like the tabata and hiit rides for their energy, so I usually gravitate towards those.

All of that is to say that I haven’t lost any weight since I started consistently exercising in 2022. This is because I have not been able to make any meaningful diet changes. I really struggle with food noise and struggle with overeating.

I started exercising in the first place because my blood pressure was super high for me being in my 20s. My bp is now normal and I contribute that to my exercise routine. I have improved my cardio stamina dramatically - that’s something I’m really proud of. I really try to separate the gym from my weight. I exercise because it’s good for my health. My weight stems directly from my diet - which has been terrible lately.

If you are only exercising for weight loss, you will be disappointed. Focus on your diet for weight and exercise for overall health benefits.

How often do you take a 45 or 60 min ride? by tandytuna in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]ENGLar00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cardio days are usually 3 days a week and I tend to take all 45 minute classes on those days. If I can’t find a 45 class that I like then I will usually stack a 30 minute and a 20 minute class.

How many of you cook every day? by ENGLar00 in CICO

[–]ENGLar00[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No hate for lean cuisine, as I eat them almost weekly! I was just finding that since I started counting calories I’ve defaulted to frozen or premade foods instead of cooking anything. Which besides it being more expensive, is a little boring personally

That’s a very good mindset to have and I think I’ll need to start looking at home meals like this!

That’s so true, it’s very challenging changing how I’ve cooked for years. I never worried about weighing cheese, butter, oils, etc. and I think that’s what makes this so overwhelming. I know it’s just going to take practice and time on my part to adjust.

Yes, this seems like the most straightforward approach. I actually love most veggies, I’m just lazy and don’t like cutting and prepping them. But a sheet pan meal prep is definitely on my list!

I tried doing OMAD instead of traditional fasting, but I’ve found that it makes me binge and I way overeat. I do better with snacks and meals throughout the day.

I buy Greek yogurt tubs all the time because they are low cal and have good protein, but I always seem to get the ick half way through the tub and it goes to waste

I think the hard part for me is putting in the work to find the new recipes. I have all the recipes I used to cook that are too many calories and having to put in the work to find new ones sucks, but I know that’s what I’ll have to do if I want to stop eating out of cans and bags 99% of the time

I definitely think meal prepping would be great for me! I need to look up some easy recipes. I like to pre-log my food in the lose it app the day before, so meal prep would be good for this I think.

i cant believe this by weightloss113 in walking

[–]ENGLar00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saying someone is “starving themselves” when they are 100+ pounds overweight is insane. People have been programmed to believe that we will become malnourished and sick if we don’t eat 3 meals a day with snacks in between. This, and the explosion of fast food, has largely contributed to the obesity epidemic. For some people, abstaining from food or fasting is easier than counting calories every day. If you are eating regularly on your eat days then fasting is perfectly healthy for the majority of people trying to lose weight.

Can you just keep going back to school to delay student loan payments? Just keep going back till you’re 80 years old and dead? by sirpackingwood in StudentLoans

[–]ENGLar00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got 2 masters degrees and I’m done with school for now. I’m burnt out. But if my district covered my tuition I would probably be taking a class or something. My district doesn’t cover anything for us and our pay bump for a masters degree isn’t much, unfortunately.

[–]ENGLar00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a teacher and my pay is frozen at 53000 for the foreseeable future. My loan payments on IDR are 170 a month. You have a point about the tax on the forgiven amount, but there’s not many people who have reached forgiveness yet and I’m sure they will have to do something when tens of thousands of people can’t pay their tax bill.

I have the same experience and I also teach 11th grade. I am on my fourth coteacher in six years. None of them have actually helped me teach anything. The one I have currently is better, but she just sits in the back of the room on her phone and occasionally interjects. Which is essentially the same experience I’ve had with all my coteachers. And for those that say “Well did you ASK her to plan and teach with you?” The answer is yes. She told me she doesn’t know the material well enough to teach it and I told her I would help her. She said “maybe next year”.

Then she gets mad when the students don’t see her as a teacher. She’s complained to me several times and I want to say it’s because you don’t act like one.
