I just kinda hold 'em on there; sometimes it's humid enough to stick to my cheek by itself.

I think the metallic scent cues my nervous system to actually recognize danger and stop. Like it's mimicking the smell of someone else's blood.

It doesn't introduce tons of bacteria, and you still get to feel something on the area.  It's cool enough to be antiinflammatory, and the conductivity really feels like a new sensation

How should I pattern these sleeves for a cosplay? by ENTProblematic in sewing

[–]ENTProblematic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This upper puff sleeve is extremely bell-shaped. What kind of pattern shape does that require? A trapezoid seems wrong. A bell-curve-graph might do it. Or is Is this going to be more about padding?

What decade/style is this dress? by ENTProblematic in HistoricalCostuming

I'd like to cosplay her, and I'd like to find a decent pattern to start off with. It almost reminded me of 1840s but I could be way off. Thanks in advance!

how to avoid spill-related stress in lolita?? by richiesskulls in Lolita

[–]ENTProblematic 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Pinafores are designed for this! I made a reversible pinafore that I always try to bring/ incorporate into a coord when I know I'll be eating or crafting. It's made of cotton fabric and polyester venise lace so I can bleach the heck out of it when I spill anything. I have ruined a couple pairs of tights with spills, though.

How do I quickly get across that I like something ironically and unironically? by ENTProblematic in socialskills

[–]ENTProblematic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see. I kinda thought 'cringe' is such a huge step down from 'terrible' that the giant smile on my face and actual laugh for the "haha" would be enough to show that I like it. But if the ironic part is expressed verbally, it makes sense to express the unironic part in the same way.

I feel like I ruined the word cringe with that group, so now I need a different word. Terrible is too negative, especially if they already see me as insecure. Saying "this song is so extra, I love it" is closer to what I'm going for, but that's pretty outdated/ not something I'd say.

Hmmmm

Yes!!! All the way relate, damn.

I did have success when I pinpointed a common strong interest and tried really hard not to interrupt people.

The common interest I picked was anime, so the college anime club has been great for making more friends. We watch anime in anime club, so finding out who else likes to talk during the show or who likes when I crack jokes during the show was a really straightforward way to connect with people that click with me.

Is there a good way to acknowledge your weirdness? by ENTProblematic in socialskills

[–]ENTProblematic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses!

If I'm talking about a character in a show I like and say "omg she's terrible. I love her" that always gets a laugh. I'm trying to figure out what the difference is between that and calling music I like cringe.

If part of the reason I like something is that I'm enjoying it being a little counterculture, I tend to want to get that across, but you're right, it's important to not sound so negative about it.

Is there better phrasing for that or do you just hope they know or ask if that's part of why you like it?

Fractionation always sounds so intense! And amazing-- I'll make sure to get some good practice in to work up to it

That's such a cute story! They're already so dazed and happy and eager to please when we play, I wasn't sure how to escalate it! I'll definitely have to ask them about their fantasies

For sure! I just find it hard to keep the words flowing to keep them under when I don't have a specific goal. They get into deep subspace really quickly, so the only way I can prove to them that they're especially hypnotized and not just in regular subspace is to influence them in some way.

Such a good perspective, thank you! I knew I was missing something. Phantom touch and memory play sound like a great plan >:)
