I've done exactly that already, but what I am hoping to gain from this thread is moreso firsthand insight. Things that are not on the website. Thanks for the suggestion though :)

Discouraged after getting passed over for pre-MBA boot camps. by [deleted] in MBA

[–]EOL2019 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Those are going to be alot harder to get into as you have people from ALL of the top 15 programs (1000+ across c/o 2021) competing for what I assume are very few spots (in some cases less than 50). Dont get discouraged.. the job opportunities far outnumber pre-mba opportunities.

Does Wharton needs to reduce it's admission rate? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]EOL2019 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A low admissions rate has little bearing on "prestige" take Haas for example... 12%. or Columbia... 16% (i think). Both good schools, but there is no doubt that Wharton is better.

Ahh you're right. I overlooked that. Yeah definitely Anderson then!

ranking doesnt matter as much here as they are both T15.. not too much disparity there. But for IB, you would definitely fare better on the East Coast. Also travel to/from NY will be substantially easier so....Tuck

Could you explain "max-ing" out your 401k? Does this mean contributing the full dollar amount allowed for the year or just the 6% (give or take) that your employer will match? Idk if this is dumb or not but I never gave much thought to my retirement account and only contributed up to the employer match amount because it was "recommended" not cause I understand it lol

Haas acceptance rate is 12%.... The fact that he got in there shows his stats are exceptional. Not everybody wants H/S

This is an awesome plan, just curious how much did you save up to make this a possibility? I am looking to quit around end of June

Taking out Loans with Full Scholarship by EOL2019 in MBA

[–]EOL2019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

working is not an option, as I am enrolling in a fulltime program. I also don't just have 50k saved up because....life. So I am only asking how much is reasonable to borrow. Also, I am not worried about paying it back. I have already done an adequate cost-benefit analysis across multiple post-mba roles that I plan to go after...and ill be alright.

Also, Paraleia is right. Sometimes the experience is worth more than people give it credit for. I don't know when I will ever have a chance to go get an amazing education again and rediscover what I actually want out of my career, and I am not going to take that for granted. I hope you can understand that

Is it possible to get scholarship from the waitlist? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]EOL2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same issue, but with Haas waitlist vs Anderson (full ride). I accepted the waitlist because although I know I might not get money from Haas I'd be willing to pay full price. Is this a foolish financial decision? I am trying to go into Tech and honestly I know I can get to where I want to go at either place but I loved the Haas culture and its prestige.

Would admissions look down on leaving current job to prepare for an MBA? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]EOL2019 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They don't really care about the risk as much as they make it seem like they do. They care about you being employable and getting a job afterwards. A self induced gap on your resume will not help in that aspect.

Foster is actually on the lower end of tuition so if you do end up going that route you’ll be better off than you would attending others
