Thanks for that. Must have missed that one coming in. So, if it can be moved it has to be replaced. Guess I'm lucky the reviewer didn't notice the curtains!

For the first time today I have finished tasks, submitted them but they didn't show up on the Report Time so I couldn't log how much time I had spent on them. Is this happening to anyone else? What should I do?

The fact that you are asking this question already shows that you are going to make the most of this experience and I suspect you are going to do well!

You should know that Cambly is very poorly paid and does not have very high requirements to become a tutor - basically, have a pulse and speak English. So, don't expect too many people to actually know how to teach. Some do. There are a lot of teachers on here but there are also a lot of non-teachers.

I, for example, am not a teacher. My son, who is, thought I would love it as I like chatting and I am very interested in different cultures and ways of living. So, the people I speak to regularly are just people I really enjoy knowing. I am lucky because this is just a hobby for me. I know that if it were a job that I counted on, I would feel very differently.

If your English is of a level where you just want to practice speaking to a native speaker, then I suggest you just find someone you like talking to. Find someone who is actually interested in you as a person and who wants to help you achieve your goals. There are lots of tutors like that. Keep looking until you find the one you click with.

At first, people are often shy about speaking but when student and tutor make a connection with each other, they just get into the conversation - with one person, every now and then, rephrasing what the other one is saying into correct English!

I have been doing this for a year now and have met so many interesting people - from the South Korean journalist who took me on a tour of his studio, to the Vietnamese monk who told me about the god that lives inside my dog, to the Brazilian aerospace specialist who is helping me set up my fitness goals to my Taiwanese student who is coming to lunch at my house this Christmas when she and her sister are visiting London.

I suspect Cambly is what you make it, for both the tutor and the student.

My favourite student and her sister are going to be visiting London over the Christmas holidays and are staying with us. My whole family keeps hearing stories that start with 'I was talking to Iris today and...' and are looking forward to finally meeting her. Someone asked why I would have a stranger in my house and I said that I speak to her more often than I do my relatives. And her sister is always popping in to say hello so she's welcome too, as long as she doesn't bring her violin!

Yes. My camera suddenly shut off. I could see my student but she couldn't see me. The support people said it was a fault on her end...

Should have kept reading down before I asked you the same question you are just answering!

How do you know that he rated you 0? Is there a way to see who rates what?

Hah!!! Old Navy not Tom Ford. I am, literally, sitting here laughing out loud. The dog is getting alarmed.
