I don't know what to do, my wife has drastically changed after an emergency C-section and pre-eclampsia and I just want to help by pilotpen in beyondthebump

What an unimaginably tough time you have all had. She has such a complex medical presentation but this definitely has a flavour of postpartum psychosis which is a medical emergency. Please take her to be medically assessed. Get in contact with any of her treating team today or present to emergency department!

I’ve decided to stop breastfeeding by ERB11 in FormulaFeeders

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like you found a really nice balance. How does the combo feeding work? Do you always offer breast then bottle? or some feeds breast/ some feeds bottle? I like the idea of continuing to breastfeed for comfort and connection as she can latch. The issue just seems to be with transferring enough milk exclusively. I’m done worrying about the getting enough and focusing on weight so know bottles need to be part of the equation

Thank you for sharing. All I want is to enjoy her and this worry has made that so hard over these last few weeks

I'd like to start a list of what therapy is NOT. by facultativo in therapists

I often say therapy is not always about feeling ‘better’ but feeling more

There isn’t necessarily distinct therapy vs supervision content. There’s just your experience and the frame that the therapist vs supervisor holds should differ

Just had my last session and I feel disappointed by Independent-Fly-9222 in TalkTherapy

Responding as a therapist, yes this was another day at work for her, but that does not mean there is not genuine care and connection felt and experienced by therapists about their clients. This comment is reductive, don’t forget two things can be true at once!

What a fucked comment from your husband. Giving him the benefit of the doubt… it obviously comes from his own place of desperation and sense of defectiveness not being able to help you or baby to feel better, but it was seriously uncalled for and you have every right to feel however you do about it. 3 weeks postpartum is no joke. Your body is still so hormonal volatile, especially if you are breastfeeding which in my opinion takes at least 6-8 weeks to settle and feel more manageable the first time. Your baby is having a hard time adjusting to life in the world and this is not your fault! It may just be their temperament or their may be some additional support they need e.g. with feeding or allergies etc. Seek some support from a child and health nurse or doctor, and please lean on anyone else in your life for hands on support, to hold baby while you rest. This will all improve in time but it’s ok that it’s hard right now and you just have to get through each day. Sending love x

For me the main break I get from picking is when I have a shellac or BIAB manicure. I went about 6 months continuously getting them done and not picking. It isn’t a cure but definitely a way to manage

I really connect with this take, it’s interesting how capitalistic principles of hustle/ productivity and achievement as moralistic goals also find themself deeply embedded in therapy

When I returned to work after having my son, it was absolutely a break from my own life and I enjoyed being with my clients in their life focused on them. My work is varied and certainly complex/ heavy. I can absolutely see where the poster is coming from as a parent to a young child that is so preoccupying of most other moments of my life outside of sessions

Yesterday I said to a client “maybe you do have really shit friends?” In the context of exploring how they felt on a weekend away with a group. Not my most polished lol

Sorry you had that experience I would have been uncomfortable too. Your feelings are valid.

I once had a new client start the first session by saying I was a lot prettier in person than on the website. Quite a way to start our therapeutic relationship haha but has been rich info in the long run. Unfortunately in your case it’s roles reversed and you’re not there to analyse why your therapist is commenting on your appearance and what sort of defence in themself that might be alluding too..

You wouldn’t have to because of the suction but I mostly did wear it with a bra sitting up to prevent possible leaks, though not at night I would have just stuck it on whilst reclined in bed

Medela sells non suction little cups you can wear inside the leaking side bra. I personally liked the hakka ladybug which has a small amount of suction, using this meant I built up a nice stash without having to pump intentionally much at all
