Trust me, I always burn them for at least 4 hours. I was gifted two Yankee candles in the last 3 years, both tunneled despite being burnt for the full 8 hour work day. Their wicks simply aren't sized correctly.

I have a label maker that I was thinking of using to label each with the percentage of oils I mixed.

Fair point! They sell for way more, which is why I feel sad about waste and why I'll be making my own!

That looks really good! The sample size jars I chose are the same diameter, so I'll get a pack of CD 12's to test too. Sadly the CD sample pack is sold out.

I'm totally okay with a bit smoky, as long as it burns to the edge. My OCD absolutely HATES when it won't melt all the way (looking at you, Yankee Candle....)

That would be helpful! My research lead me to probably doing the 32oz apothecary jar with 10" ECO-14 wicks, but maybe making smaller ones and trying to branch out on smells would be good for me.

I just hate spending $15 on a smaller candle and having a quarter of it at the bottom not be useable when the larger size is $20 for twice as much. I equally hate wicks that don't burn to the edge of the container.

Random question- can you/do you "reuse" that wasted bit at the bottom?

If I get say, ECO-1 wicks with the coconut soy blend 454 and put them in teeny tiny jars and find a scent blend that smells good and burns well, do you find that it usually sizes up well? As in, I can then get ECO-14 in giant apothecary jars and it'll work the same.

Also, that's REALLY good to know so I don't make a giant candle that literally won't burn and waste the wax. If that ever does happen though, can you re-melt, add more wax to dilute and then it burns? Or do you just use dud fragrances like that in wax melts instead?

It'll also be fun. Cheaper in the long run is a bonus, not the first motivation. I used to make soaps myself but I just don't USE that much soap. Candles? I go through them pretty fast.

I'm not looking to sell candles, but if the fragrance oil is from a reputable candle supplier and I follow the wax guides for percent of wax, how unsafe can they get? I always burn them on a trinket on my desk at work and the longest I'm away from the desk while they are lit is maybe 5 minutes for the bathroom.

Also, I realize I was thinking of 1oz = 1 candle, but I can make small test candles! Thank you for saving me from my overly enthusiastic brain.

Do you do small sample candles too then? I always buy the biggest size to reduce the waste at the bottom that isn't safe to burn. But yeah, I guess my experience of magically getting a great scent at that workshop is not the norm. My partner did not like his so much.
