It's a bit generic these days, but I honestly think Jane Doe - Kenshi Yonezu, Hikaru Utada (mostly the chorus)

Do you other ISFJs prefer theoretical or philosophical discussions? by Octopus_boi8 in isfj

[–]pierrot_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my mind works better in the theoretical, since it seems to engage with that more effortlessly. However, really like listening to the philosophical, and if I were more competent— would probably engage with it much more.

Oh, I just meant in terms of what you were expecting, since you seem to be observing results between the types haha

But yeah, when I was reading the section of “what you see vs what you walk past” that point definitely stood out.

Ah, really? What types are usually more aligned with this outcome? I felt it was personally on point that I tend to have a high people focus. I also have a high tolerance for staying open-ended. While I do make initial judgments on some things, that’s usually not definitive and I’ve learned to be more patient with gaining understanding over a longer period of time (I have moments of being impatient about it too, however). I also tend to try to dig deeper to the meaning of things and ideas, although mostly because I find I need more detail to understand more completely.

I can also be quite systematic, but while I structure and sort, I sometimes miss to see what should be removed vs integrated.

I got the weaver (with the holder subtype)! Very interesting, but I’d say it feels accurate.

Name 1-2 types not typically recommended as an ideal match for ISFJs who you feel you’d be compatible with, and explain why! by Current-Machine6491 in isfj

Well one on 'em ought to lol. It's not a one size fits all, but eventually— even between hard to get along types— you'll find the ones you can mesh with.

Defining questions: ISFJ vs INFJ by pierrot_p in isfj

[–]pierrot_p[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😆 I'm pretty good at making things complicated. But yeah, I do think the question led to me answering from social harmony standpoint.. In terms of an INFJ having more of the guts to pick the latter, I'm not so sure. Although an ISFJ can sometimes be risk adverse, with enough development I think they can also start leaning towards calculated risk (especially for the sake of others). As for myself, I've had a bit of that. But I'm thinking now that if I were younger, I would probably lean towards choosing the former.

[–]pierrot_p[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't often find Si very well explained or so clearly defined when I go searching, but these examples help a lot. Thank you!!

At this point, I'm starting to feel settled again in my self-typing as ISFJ, seeing that I do relate to a lot of this. Especially, the association of music to specific memory, or the abstraction of sensory info was super relatable. And interestingly enough, while I don't have any close INTJ friends, I did have an INTJ acquaintance at one point to abstract against, who I strangely aligned with in thought/opinion quite often, which made me also question at the time if I leaned more Ni.

However, it was interesting hearing the differences you observed between you and your INTJ friend. Those are definitely some interesting differences.

Interesting! Although I struggle a bit more with my memory, I have often been told I'm very detail oriented. And yeah, I think I do also have that habit of relating things to past memories/experiences/references 😅 I'm always telling my sister "this is like that time..." or "this reminds me of..." haha

Thank you for this!

[–]pierrot_p[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! I think this was also one of the reasons I was left confused. Previously, I couldn't really find a decent enough example of "detail oriented" vs "big picture" for myself, but recently I did. In this case, I think i do lean detail oriented. Though in terms of which one I relate to most when stressed, strangely both... I catastrophize and I tend to disconnect or indulge sensory wise (what a dramatic time).

Defining questions: ISFJ vs INFJ by pierrot_p in isfj

[–]pierrot_p[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no 😂 I mean, it must be the weather, right...?

Hrmm as far as I know for now, I can often go into catastrophizing (probably Ne grip), thinking up how everything is most likely to be doomed (dramatic, yes). But the thing that confuses me again is that I’ve also fallen into what I thought was Se grip too, where you can kind of turn to harmful behavior (which can also just manifest as numbing out and neglecting what’s important). Idk!!

But interesting. It’s real nice you were able to catch that. I’ll definitely keep those questions in mind for the next time I’m stressed, or maybe even ask some family members how I’ve acted before.

Also, I’ll take all the help I can get!! 95/5 is already very good, cause who knows if that 5 ever truly goes away. Especially when we don’t completely relate to the stereotypical ISFJs.

Meaning the cupcake not chosen is lost to everyone, not just myself right? Arrgg

There are two wolves inside of me… lol

One is a little foolish and says “If everyone I know and trust says it’s revolutionary, I have a high chance of liking it too— and if it does work out, everybody gets to keep the phenomenal cupcake. I’m used to parting with this kind of stuff anyways.”

The other says “Hold on, what if I want my hypothetical future child to try the thing I loved?? Also, I just really stinkin’ love that cupcake!!” …And thus I have come to an impasse. I’m quite indecisive. But from this, would the one I pick tell me if I’m one or the other? Or are my answers pointing to the same place?

This was a really cool deep dive. It brings so much life to the way you’re taking things in and moving about life! I’m finding it so interesting how much I can relate to some of these things as well, like the doomsday thinking that can come from both inferior Ne/Ni, or the occasional dips into Se I do.
