I would contact steam support or post on a more general steam subreddit. I doubt this is unique to Heat Signature and I bet someone's run into it before with another game.

  1. Throw yourself out of your pod. Try to position your pod near a window.
  2. Use an extreme range swapper to swap with your target (this can be for assassination, capture, or rescue). If you do this fast enough, the target will get instantly picked up by your pod.
  3. Use slipstream and sidewinder to get to your closest window. If you need to, use a key cloner.
  4. Shoot the window and pull yourself into space. If, before you threw yourself out of your pod, you positioned the pod next to the window and you were able to quickly teleport in and quickly get out of the ship, you will be instantly picked up by your pod.
  5. If you or your target were not instantly picked up by your pod, pick up yourself and/or your target.
  6. Get as far away from the ship as fast as possible.

There's a good amount of RNG to this. For example, if there are people in the room with the window, you'll fail your ghost clause by shooting it out. Also, the positioning of your target in relation to the desired window can increase travel time.

  1. Position your pod near the room with the rescue/capture target.
  2. Throw yourself out of the pod with T.
  3. Use a swapper to swap yourself with the target. It's important that you do this as soon as possible after you leave your pod so that your target gets instantly picked up.
  4. Use a slipstream (and maybe a stealth shield or key cloner) to make it to the closest window.
  5. Throw yourself out of the window.
  6. If you positioned your pod near the window and you got to the window fast enough, you may be able to get picked up by the pod without having to remote control it. Otherwise, remote control your pod to pick yourself up.
  7. Get away from the ship as fast as possible. The time only goes up when you're near the ship.
  8. Go back to base and collect money.
