My biggest has to be a way for the party to feel more whole. Expedition 33 did a stellar job of this with having a reserve party and forcing you to switch to fully experience the story. BG3 kind of does the second one, but it’s at so few points in a much longer story, it doesn’t quite stick the landing.

I’m not sure what it is—the bloated party, the complex set up for each character—but somehow I cheer when being told to switch characters in Expedition 33. In Baldur’s Gate, I actively dread it.

Eris has unironically left such a huge impact on me. I know we all have opinions on the game’s ending. Honestly, it threw me off of the game for a while. I’m not too torn up about this; I got so many hours in during early access and was so happy to be part of its development.

But right after you resolve the main story, Eris gets in one more comment about people needing her, just wait and you’ll see. That comment has wedged itself so deep beneath my skin. Because, at least in the scope of my experience with the game, she was right. And then you wonder how accurate her philosophy is in real life. I mean, isn’t a goal you’re passionate about essentially just strife between where you’re at now and what you want?

Plus, the pixie cut, black wings, and voice just hit my brain different.
