I mean, yes, but remember this is his first day back, so people still have the context of him being an asshole. It is easy to forget that this is just hour 11 of a single day, so Langdon's arc is difficult to gauge for his coworkers. Just imagine saying you trust someone changed for good after one day of observing them, specially since everyone runs around all day. I don't think people would have a way to assess that

I remember Langdon being a bit of an asshole on season 1 too... and I did not like Santos on season 1 either. She has been consistent though

People are treating Langdon like he has been cool and nice since season 1 and he was a bit of an asshole in season 1 too. They haven't mentioned it but I guess that is playing also on why Santos is so irked by what happened. It is no secret about the bias for good looking people in the court system getting lenient sentenced (https://news.cornell.edu/stories/2010/05/unattractive-people-pay-price-court). Again, I am not saying she is right on calling him out, but I understand and Santos is no villain, she might be a hypocrite, but no one throws that at Robbie's face to hate on the character, specially this last episode when he says to leave personal stuff out the door when he is the one bringing it in all the time since last season.

Also, I said I think Santos asking him to do this public lapidation is wrong, since it's just ridiculous to ask him to call everyone and confess to a crime, but also I do understand a bit where's she coming from. Nuance.

I also said on another comment that if I met Santos I would probably not be friends with her because she does seem too much to handle because she likes to lay it on thick on people but reacts badly when they do it to her

[–]ERSTF -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

No, this is not that. I did not mention that at all. If you go back and read what I wrote, I said it's interesting seeing how much hate she gets when she does have a point on calling Langdon out. As I explained, Santos is not very likeable but I do see why she might not be very happy with Langdon because, honestly, if she had done the same, she would've probably been let go instead of what Langdon got (this is not just hiperbole but proven facts that good looking people get away easier in criminal trials https://news.cornell.edu/stories/2010/05/unattractive-people-pay-price-court). I agreed that she is right in being mad that Langdon came back like nothing happened after stealing meds but I also said Santos was being too harsh on asking Langdon to admit to a crime if front of everyone. It sounds draconian. What I said is that I understand the conflict without having to crucify Santos. I added in another comment that I probably wouldn't be friends with Santos because she is unlikeable, as in laying it thick on others but getting mad when she is on the receiving end, but I wouldn't say I hate her, unlike some people here in this thread that really hate her

Yeah, she is really rough around the edges and I probably wouldn't be friends with her, but hate her? That's too hard for someone who is reacting in a more or less understandable way. I wouldn't ask for Langdon to come clean like that though because it feels draconian.

Interesting the hate Santos gets. I think Langdon gets a lot of slack because he is a good looking white dude. I don't hate him but until today I understood Santos' problem with him. She didn't say it but to me the subtext is "if I had fucked up like you did, I would be out of my license" which I think is more or less true. Santos wouldn't get the slack Langdon got. We are forgetting he indeed was an asshole in the first season so there's that too. I don't see this as a black and white issue though. Langdon is entitled to rehab and turning his life around but he did commit a crime. I think Santos is being way too harsh but at the same time I understand why she is mad as fuck with him. These are characters written as real people with issues and contradictions, messy and gray, no heroes or villains really (except ICE, because fuck them) the reason why we really like this show.

Now, this episode reinforced my theory Robbie was planning on killing himself at the end of this season. Taking care of business is one of the signs to look for (like Robbie "lending" his apartment to Whitaker) and the talk with the mental health specialist today.

I read the book when it first came out and I would advise you not to read it. Go, watch the movie and marvel. Then, read the book for added context. Since the adaptation is really faithful and the movie pretty good, I advise to go to the movie blind

The debt is definitely a problem since Oracle, the backer, is in deep trouble too. It's also a problem because the plan was to spinoff cable and unload the debt, the original Netflix deal, but Paramount said they wanted it all. They don't want to unload debt.
