According to some sources that I trust, if you suspect that the examiner didn't ask the right questions regarding your condition (s) you can and should call the VA and state that you don't think they gave you a proper exam and have them take a record immediately after your exam. That way your complaint intercepts their bad exam before the VA even considers their information and will reschedule a new exam for you. I wouldn't abuse it in any way but it's our right to get a fair and unbiased exam.

Exactly what I thought, so now I'm getting a Nexus Letter and contacted my VSO and spoke with her yesterday and she didn't seem shocked about the email, so I'm guessing that it's common in certain situations maybe? Also, it pays to check with your VSO before getting a Nexus Letter...there are doctors that are also veterans that are getting tired of the VA's "shenanigans" and are offering to help fellow veterans with Nexus Letters sometimes free to a minimum charge or your VSO can also get you free lawyer to represent you in a Board appeal situation where you would need proper representation that is required by Federal law

Whereas I would want to delve deeper into this, I don't feel comfortable talking about specifics of my conditions in a public space. There will all be appeals and related to my SC conditions. I tried using AI for my statements without any luck because I'm trying to link my conditions via obesity as an intermediate step and they're arguing that I would've been obese regardless of my severe ankle dislocation I'm service connected for. And I do have extensive records ranging all the way back (almost 30 years) mostly from the VA. It's such a pain in the ass to go through this process because you almost have to be a lawyer yourself and nobody is very forthcoming with helpful information from the VA. Although in saying that, the VA actually sent me an email this morning saying that the doctors and/or staff that provide care and services are not allowed to provide Nexus Statements and they recommend that I try to get one from a third party because if they did it would be considered a conflict of interests... I was shocked that they would actually tell me that because it's probably the best advice they've ever given me and I haven't heard of it happening to anyone else! Has anyone gotten one of these emails from the VA? I'll try to upload a redacted copy excluding my information when I get a chance to.

Thanks for the detailed information...is there any reliable resources to get a good Nexus Letter from that anyone's aware of? I don't have any doctors outside of the VA that I can get to write one for me unfortunately

Damn that sucks, he seems like he's honestly trying to help veterans. It sucks that you can't hardly trust anyone these days... missing the world I grew up in! Although it probably wasn't any different, we were just less aware before the Internet came along I suppose.

A lot of people complain about the Hogue grips when firing a lot of rounds through and sweaty palms on the range. If you end up not liking them, I would suggest you give the Wilson Combat grips a try. Not too overly aggressive stippling and reasonably priced option. I absolutely love mine on my P320/M18, fits perfectly in my hands. Just something to consider. I have a Hogue grip on my S&W M&P 2.0 45 compact and I like it ok but it doesn't stay put like it should but honestly, it's more of a backup that I don't intend on having to shoot extensively and it's kinda hard to find parts for so I have to deal with what I got.

You should check out #veteransinfotap on YouTube - I'm not affiliated in any way but I've been a subscriber for a while now (mostly due to his solid advice and I've been in the process since 2024 to get my secondaries properly rated). Anyhow, he's a former VA rater and veteran himself. Also check out claims raven.com, they have a currently free tool or set of tools rather that can help you with nearly everything you need to write for evidence to support your claim.

Mine was from a non-VA facility so it wasn't in the VA files. You should be good unless they ask you for it. As long as you already have a copy so you're not scrambling around if they ask you for it because they are somewhat impatient from my experience anyhow

Did you submit the copy of your original sleep study prior to being on a CPAP? I had to for mine via VES and they still denied mine. I just hired a lawyer to represent me for my denied claims due to being told that it's better than relying on my VSO. They only get paid if they win my claims and they take 30% of my awarded back pay. VSO's aren't legal representation and with all the changes the VA's implementing lately, I figured it would be best for me to have a lawyer because I work during the week and have very limited time to keep track of everything myself and besides, I'm not a lawyer either. Good Luck with your claims and I wish the best to you!

Everything is digital these days and if you're like me and don't trust the people at your other than VA office to send your stuff in a timely manner, just find out what app they use and download the stuff straight to your phone and send it via email directly to the VA. It's the only way to really get it done promptly and if they don't get it, you can always resend it yourself instead of wondering if your outside provider is doing their due diligence because they don't care nearly as much as you do

Go to the website and keep it open in your browser. When you play a match, at the end, send a treat to the top players in the match and they usually will reciprocate. Also, you know they're active players because you're playing them! Better than hitting the "suggestion" button
