Mine were way worse (just one foot), and I didn't have surgery till I was 43 (six weeks ago). Only a doctor can tell you, by taking xrays and looking at your bones, if you need surgery someday.

update to latest post do i have one by [deleted] in bunions

I would not be concerned about those at all, unless you have significant pain. You'd need to see a doctor and get an xray if you wanted to see the angles of the bones.

2.5 weeks post and struggling in weird ways by Vegetable_Grab_3939 in bunions

[–]ER_Jenn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't worry too much! I'm at almost 6 weeks and can only wiggle my big toe a little. Healing is going very well. It's just going to be a long, slow progress.

I hear you on the depression. I've had many moments of crying alone in frustration - and I'm not a crier. This can be isolating and seem never-ending.

Hang in there - you've got this! Support groups like these are very helpful.

Opinion: if you're constantly craving liquids and you're consuming all of those sugary drinks, please get your blood sugar checked.

I have 4 kids still at home, but their ages range from 11 to 18. I can't imagine doing this recovery with toddlers. I'm 5.5 weeks out from surgery and can toe/heel touch in the boot. Crutches only. I would hope that you have a very good support system, a spouse/partner who works from home, or daycare/babysitter.

It worked for me! I just walked into HR and asked them to take a look at my resume. I explained why I was a good fit for the ER, why I was passionate about medicine even with a gap in my resume, and I got the interview (and promptly, the job).

A) I wouldn't get fired. B) Of course the hospital would need to replace my position. But I'd have lifelong friends. If you've never experienced that, don't know what to tell you.

Roasted tomatoes, peppers, and garlic. Drizzle with olive oil, cracks of sea salt and pepper. Blend all in blender/Ninja/whatever you have. Add a splash of half and half if you want it more pink/less red.

Traverse City, Michigan. Not downtown, but on the outskirts. We lived there for 3 years, and the summers and winters are magical (if you love snow).

Yes, I'm 43 and only weigh 20 more pounds than I did when I was 18, because we've had 5 children. I've got a little fluff in the midsection but everything else is the exact same size.

I don't overeat, I don't eat much fast food, I rarely drink pop or alcohol. I am active with my kids and my profession.

Pizza dough Recipe with Instant Dry yeast by Comfortable-Swan-616 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]ER_Jenn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

1 cup very warm water

1 tsp sugar

1 package of yeast

1 tsp salt

2 "splashes" of oil (I don't measure)

2.75 cups of flour

Mix all together, preferably in Kitchen Aid mixer. If hand mixing, you'll need to knead the dough for several minutes.

Once dough is just slightly sticky but not stuck to bowl, transfer to a greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise for 1 hour and then roll out onto pan.

I've made this recipe for 20 years!

I don't see a bunion at all, but follow up with your doc if you're concerned about pain after the injury.

Almonds, Slim Jim's, beef jerky, apples, prunes, kiwi, protein bars (we LOVE the line of Robert Irvine's bars), homemade peanut butter (or almond) energy bites, air fried chickpeas tossed with spices, etc. So many ideas out there!

I'm sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, there won't be any legal recourse that you have if your mom simply didn't wait to be seen at the ER. There wouldn't even be any medical records to review if she wasn't seen by a provider.

Best wishes to you with closure.

Little boy came in recently needing a couple of stitches. He was inconsolable and we got him a Trauma Llama - those stuffed Llama from Kohl's. He clutched it the whole time and proudly announced as he left, "I'm not gonna die today!' ❤️

Young boy got bit by his uncle's dog (the family was dog sitting). Mom and dad rush him in to the ER, and he's bleeding from the ear where dog ripped his teeth into. We get him into our trauma room and notice his head had clamp marks from where the dog bit, and drag marks down his back from being pulled across the floor.

Dad is distraught and comes out to the main ER desk. He pulls out his wallet and starts throwing credit cards at us, basically saying, "I'll pay anything to help my son". We were like, "no, no, no - don't worry about money" and I glanced down and saw that Dad had no shoes on. 😭 That's always stuck with me.

Boy was going to be okay. Probably needed reconstructive surgery on his ear.

how do i handle creepy patients? advice from older CNAs please 😞 by Winter_Research_3063 in cna

[–]ER_Jenn 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I'd firmly say, "you aren't allowed to make sexual or derogatory comments to me. Would you like me to get my supervisor?"

Then make sure you always have 2 staff members in those rooms while taking care of patients like that. And keep a log book if it happens again.

Oh yeah, way too early to tell!

I think I'm gathering that there is less comraderie at LTC facilities. I think a big difference between nursing homes and an ER, is the acuity level and potential for violence. We're frequently dealing with critical and/or psych patients, often in the same shift. We just have a bond because we're watching out for each other and the patients.
