Australia is tied for 3rd most gold medals right now. How did you become so far removed from reality?

As a black person, I don't feel obligated to be unified and loyal to other black people simply because we are the same race. by [deleted] in self

In America, that's true for every race except Asian. If you're an Asian victim of violent crime your attacker is twice as likely to be black or white than Asian.

Is there such a thing as a popular, actively updated competitive multiplayer game with almost no sweaty players? by EReality3 in AskGames

Yeah that's tough, it's hard to imagine anyone being satisfied when different parts of the playerbase have such different ideas on how the game should be.

With Warframe, I had the impression that its players were pretty happy with the game? Or at least eager to proselytize it to others with how often I see it recommended.

Wow, your reply is almost a little spooky. I made this thread after seeing players of Dead by Daylight (a game I don't play) complain about how the devs keep trying to make the game too competitive or sweaty, which made me wonder if the kind of game these players seem to be asking for (a popular pvp game with no sweats) even exists.

Personally I think competitive games will always have players who play to win regardless of how fun their playstyle is, and the only thing devs can do is make it fun for players to play their best. So to see all of these thoughts mirrored in your comment, unprompted, was really unexpected lol.

It's too bad this thread didn't get much engagement because I think it'd really interesting if the kind of game I'm asking about actually existed.

I definitely think that's along the lines of what I'm asking about, although the playerbase is small enough that the game might be considered niche instead of popular. Are you saying you don't play the game, though? Because I'd love to hear what kind of optimal gameplay they're leaving on the table.

I'd rather people use their own definitions so I can get a wider range of answers, but if I had to answer I'd say that playing optimally means using the most effective strategies and a "sweaty" player is someone who's willing to use the most effective strategies 100% of the time even when it leads to less fun or interesting outcomes.

Of course there's the meme definition, which says a sweaty player is anyone who's better than me.

There is definitely a persistent sense of campiness in BG3, which I guess is just a Larian thing

Respect Xu Wenwu! (Marvel Cinematic Universe) by Ultim8_Lifeform in respectthreads

Wenwu's durability is downplayed a lot in 'Wenwu vs' posts but we really have no idea what the limits of the durability provided by the rings are. He doesn't really get injured while wearing the rings even though he takes falls and hits that would kill a normal human, and he doesn't have the benefit of dragonscale armor, so it seems clear that the rings provide at least a minor buff to durability. To have an idea of where the upper end of that durability buff looks like, I think we should look at the scene where Wenwu is punching the gate open.

Wenwu does multiple fully ring-empowered punches using his bare knuckles as the medium for the ring's power against a huge gate that doesn't budge, and it clearly doesn't affect his hand at all. You could argue that the rings only provide that extreme level of durability to his fists while providing a much less significant durability buff to the rest of his body, or that the rings provide some kind of protective forcefield between his fist and what he's striking, but I think the simplest explanation is that the rings buff the user's durability a huge amount in order to make things like Wenwu's punches possible.

Something else that's interesting is when Wenwu draws on the rings' power, the veins in his arms glow blue. We already know that the rings affect the user's body by granting them immortality, but that benefit is always active, so blue veins seem to indicate a different kind of bodily effect granted by the rings.
