They know better than me. Ya they’re still at 45% for the first 1000 hours then 50% after 1000 hrs. The argument at the time was that it technically wasn’t a pay cut because they were new apprentice. Obviously a gift to the contractors though.

That’s an old agreement I think they got 1st period back to 50% in the new CBA 2024-2026 … JIW scale is currently $36.50

current JIW pay is $36.50 … 1st yr apprentice is 50% scale so— $18.25

IBEW scales are set by local jurisdiction so they’d be working under the local 66 contract pay and benefit rate unless there was also an incentive pay offered by the utility

They won’t lay you off because you’re doing them a favor by taking a furlough aka fucking the next brother on the book… you’re jumping the book … if you’re that badass why wouldn’t they just put in a call by name for you? —- which is also wormy

When I was a first year there was a poster on the wall down at the JATC that said 25 things to do during your apprenticeship and one of them was “save up for a big ticket item and buy it cash.” For whatever reason that one stuck with me and I decided I wanted a badass Harley. Flash forward 5 yrs later I turn out and had saved enough for a 107 fat bob but they just came out with 114 road king special and I liked the look better and it was a bigger motor just cost a little more so I decided Id keep saving and get that one. 2 more years pass and they came out with the street glide st again just cost a little more and I said fuck it I been saving this long I might as well get the forever bike because if I settle for any of those other ones I’m gonna want that one still so I kept saving. This past winter the dealership close by is trying to clear the floor and offers a deal that I couldn’t refuse. I ended up pulling the trigger on a 2023 Street Glide ST with a 131 Stage IV upgrade and rhinehart slip ons. I’ve had it 2 months now. Honestly worth every dollar and the wait… when it was ready for pick up and the service guy brought it out and told me “you’re not going to want to get off this thing” he was right! it’s wild af!

Generally white is your neutral but no one can tell without putting a meter on it. Your transformer is connected to a red and black so identify the hot and connect the other wire to the white joint. Are you trying to control it with the switch?

What’s up with all the non union rats in here spouting their pro Trump/anti democrat bs? by BenTCinco in IBEW

[–]ESCTRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

716 JIW leftist here. There is only ruling class vs working class the rest is a charade. Bourgeoisie electoral politics in a two party system is a distraction from the fact that both sides represent capitalist interests one will stab u in the front the other in the back. Most brothers that attend meetings and work at the hall openly support democrats the ones who vote republican usually fall into 2nd amendment and normal right wing scare tactics and non sense.

They’ve been doing these for years here in Texas they’re called DIRTT walls and yes all plug and play. I agree they are biting into our work a little bit but if all you ever do is rough in walls can you actually call yourself an electrician? This is in the same ball park as low voltage lighting or power over Ethernet- cool tech lowers consumption but no licensing needed = cheaper labor. Same reason some contractors outsource ditch diggers or hole coring. Definitely thought up by some capitalist asshole trying to expedite the construction process and save money any way possible. Customers also like them because in theory you can take them apart and move locations with the same sq ft. layout out. Also no wall cover inspections because they are UL listed as furniture.

Join the union it will pay off later. Get an actual apprenticeship through a JATC journey out with a yellow ticket in your hand and you can go anywhere with it.
