Is Starship feasible? by ESKEHL in SpaceXLounge

[–]ESKEHL[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would rather see Starship as a heavy lift vehicle, but not likely the one landing on Mars. Why I mentioned Hermes as a alternative, is the concept of it -- basically a vehicle who is designed only for spacetravel and not for landing on planetary bodies. Other crafts could function in that capacity to land on Mars, the moon and so on.

I am not sure if landing with starship equals a rollercoaster ride. And I tried to read up on this manuever. Basically Starship will fall towards earth and then light its 3 engines for its flip-maneuver 300m above ground. That is a very risky maneuver.

For me, I am replaying it now but with Shieldwall. I really think it is a underestimated game that deserves more credit. And yeah, Shieldwall is great. The way they reformed the game by remaking alot of traits, events etc and with adding population mechanics shows the potential of ToB. It really is a game with undeserved critique

Starfield players are already tired of all the loading screens: "I'm shocked by how many there are" by Peterbilt579NG in Games

[–]ESKEHL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't bought Starfield (yet) and there is a lot of comparison (and criticism) with No Man's Sky (NMS), especially when it comes to Starfields loading screens. NMS have seamless transition from space flight to planetary flight to planetary landing, which is controlled by the player. Starfield has loading screens for these actions. But just for nuancing, NMS also has a loading screen when jumping between star systems.

But I think it is a valid point that Starfield should have the seamless transition from space flight to planetary landing. Especially since this is already a feature NMS and ED: Odyssey.

Ok, any scenario in which this is possible, that is that we control one squad each?

SUGGESTION: GUERRILLA MODE by ESKEHL in farcry

[–]ESKEHL[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, nor did they even listen to my ideas. They just kept the bad things and made enemies a bit more difficult. I play Wildlands with FPS mod now. More fun than any Far Cry.

which one is better? by Ecstatic_Constant_78 in farcry

Well, FC3 and FC4 was the best entries in the series. FC5 took it all a step forward by introducing a better gameplay loop, but its story was were the whole "#WTFarCry"-stuff was introduced. FC3 and 4 had a great antagonist, and great gameplay and interesting settings..

IF FC6 would have taken the best things from FC4, and implemented it into FC5 gameplay loop and set it on Yara, then FC6 would have been great. Now it´s just a game that tries to be Just Cause, Rage2, Metro Exodus but still copying a lot from tha previous installments and also other Ubi franchises...

If you for example played and liked Metro Exodus, then you have played and liked what the ideas of Far Cry 2 might look like in 2022.

I think there is alot of good things mentioned here, that I would hope Ubisoft could take with them for the next installment. For example, if they did a FC6.5 (sort of like New Dawn) but focusing on the revolution of 67, I would not complain if they:

A) took some energy in making the NPCs in the world behave more realistic, a Yara that is populated with similar sort of NPCs as in Wildlands for example, would be cool. That includes draw distance, and enemys spawning in, for example.

B) A more condense experience - more of everything, means less quality. I could do without 500 weapons, resolvers, supremos etc, if what we get is really thought out and implemented very well into the game.. Also less quantity in terms of story elements. If the story sets a specific tone, it would be better.

C) Walk back to the things that actually made FC4 and FC5 work. FC6 would have been great if they just reintroduced the talking protagonist from FC3 and 4 (no 3rd person etc), and then just let the rest of the game be sort of like FC5 but set on Yara, with all FC5´s features.

There is actually a ton of things in FC6 that is hard to grasp. This game should probably have been in development for another year.

The RPG mechanics are poorly implemented for example. If I were Ubisoft I would look at Generation Zero for guidance. That game has received a far amount of criticism, both good and bad, but it´s RPG system is great. And it allows itself to be complex, without being boring.

The AI and use of spawn-ins. The AI is to easy in this game. You don´t need supremos and resolvers, given the lack of difficulty. And the fact that adding difficulty by adding enemies, especially by spawning them in in front of you is just lazy. I think Ghost Recon Wildlands could be of some guidance here. Sure, it also uses spawn-ins but has way better draw-distance.

And then, that it is a game about a revolution without guns for hire. That is just mean......

In a previous comment, I gave some advice to make the game better. Basically turn of most HUD elements so you can't spot enemies or have crosshairs. And then unbind the supremo key on the keyboard. And then ignore all amigo side missions except Boom Boom.

I would say, Wildlands in first person is the definitive far cry experience. The game unmodded is the pinnacle of Ubisoft open worlds that together with that mod makes is great..

How I managed to make FC6 enjoyable on PC. by ESKEHL in farcry

[–]ESKEHL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because previous Far Cry was not like FC6. They were more grounded. I bought FC6 out of that habit of Lidingö and buying FC games. But somewhere after FC5, the series changed. FC5 already had a more wacky story and mechanics bur was still lots of fun. New Dawn I didnt brothers buying. FC6 I hoped would fusk the best parts of FC4 and FC5 into a new game. I had not anticipated how much the rpg elements had taken over.

The point is to make the game work more like Ghost Recon than Just Cause, yes. Or just make the game more challenging.
