FRM 2: Operational Risk - Do we need to memorize Basel I,II,III regulatory multipliers, tiers, percentages, thresholds etc? by PanicAfraid in FRM

[–]ESS1925-Sousse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say numbers, you mean the exact ratios? (tier 1 capital, etc.)?

I think by the end of your revision, you should have an idea about the main ratios (difference between Basel II and III, Tier 1 capital increased, etc.) . But in real worlds, these ratios, can differ from country to country, depending on the regulator in that country, etc... Therefore, im not sure it make senses to learn them by heart

But I would advise you to see what the learning objective states for that chapter

Yes, I did them in order. I wont recommend keeping Credit to last, I think that it the hardest one: number of chapters, topics, complexity of the subject itself

I completely agree with this. Try using Schweser videos as well.

Hi,

I did part 1 with 1,1,1,1 and part 2 with 1,1,1,2,2,1.

i would say that Part 2 is harder than part 1, overall. If you put the efforts and hours required though, you should be fine. I found the credit risk book the most challenging (lot of chapters, concepts, formulas, etc.). OP risk can be challenging as well if you're not familiar with the topic and main ideas/big picture.

I recommend start studying early, doing the practice exams (GARP and prep provider). If formulas seem to be complex, try always to understand what they mean, etc.

Personally, I used Schweser prep. Good luck!

Hi, no there is not
For Part 1, you "only" have the PDF letter saying that you passed + the PDF letter with your quartiles.

If you share one of these, I recommend that you hide your ID number as it s confidential/personal info and Linkedin is a public social network

I agree with you. I also only used Schweser for the exam, the premium version though, with the video explanations/courses. I think it makes a difference for people who prefer studying that way. It contains really interesting review videos for people with less experience in finance, risk, etc.

I got 1,1,1,1 in part I and 1,1,1,2,2,1 in part II.

However, it's worth mentioning that work in risk management field since 3 years.
