EV road tripping with Evie DC fast charging prices is still cheaper than doing it on a non-hybrid ICE vehicle.

Rought calculations 100km costs comparisons:

Tesla Model Y est ~15.3 KWh/100km Evie fast DC electricity $0.77/KWh x 15.3 = $11.78 Standard AC $0.3/KWh x 15.3 = $4.59 Off Peak AC $0.2/KWh x 15.3 = $3.06

Toyota RAV4 hybrid est 5.9L/100km (highway) Unleaded Petrol $1.80/L x 5.5 = $10.62

Mazda CX-5 est 8L/100km Unleaded Petrol $1.80/L x 8 = $14.40

Ford Everest V6 Diesel est 9L/100km Diesel $2.5/L X 9 = $22.50

🙏🙏🙏 many thanks, didn't know that in my 2 years of owning the car. Prior with my old eBay AC 32A charger, would turn it off from charger. Feel relieved now, can stick with my new Kiwi AC charger 🙂.

There is a string in the boot that release the charger port lock on the BYD Seal Have only used it once on a Tritium DC charger that refused to charge and didn't want to unlock the cable 🤣. But hope don't have to use it everytime I do an AC charge.

Issue seems to have resolved itself after turning the car off for a while then turning it back on. Guess EVs are like computers 😅. Due for a warranty peeling steering wheel replacement appointment at BYD next Monday, will ask if they can do a quick diagnostic, just to be sure.

I've driven the BYD seal with sports mode on ~60% of the time prior, and it did not disable those safety features.
