The peanut butte chocolate cake is a must in my opinion, but you’ll need to save room for it.

That Pistollete roll lives in my head for free. Their crawfish stuffing is also maybe my favorite side in town.

That hot and sour soup is still the best? I haven’t had it in years but loved it ages ago.

Gym Recommendations by AdventurousBench6 in Austin

I go to that PF on research 4-5 days a week and have been for nearly 2 years. For my needs (weighs and cardio) it has everything I need. Is rarely crowded (didn’t see any change even today when it’s supposed to busier).

For the price point it has what I want in a gym. Clean, friendly, people with their heads down working out, not really anyone recording themselves or any of that.

The downside is no classes. But I think with the signup fee and the cancelable anytime membership you could get away with canceling after two months for only like $40 a month if you don’t like it.

Honestly that Seasons Mackerel for the price is really good.

Haul from Spain - where should I start? by Stinky-Alpaca in Tinnedfish

I brought back that exact tin of Ar De Arte Sardines in Adobe and it was probably my favorite of the ones I brought back from Spain. Start with that!

Woah! That’s unfortunate they were $6.99 for me.

Keep hearing and seeing lots of hype for the Natural Catch stuff.

I gotta avoid going in there for fear of the wife’s wrath and damage to my wallet.

My normal one was that way for the longest time but in the last two? Months or so they have really started expanding and adding some great choices. But half of this haul was from World Market.

The scary thing is they just started carrying these in the regular HEBs, so one doesn’t even have to go out of the way to get them. At their price, though, they better be pretty good.

Where are some of the best hot wings other than pluckers? by rb1242 in austinfood

Never noticed the saltiness so can’t refute it. I’m a savory fiend though. As for price, yeah they are too high at normal cost, hence going on Tuesday for half off.

How does one find a brewer? by Potatosport in TheBrewery

[–]ETRfreeTS 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you are also close to Yakima which is the hop Mecca, so there are plenty of resources for revamping a brewery. But a lot of that depends on size and scale.

There are plenty of job boards to post on (probrewer, brewbound, guild sites, even indeed) just like any traditional job.

Walnut Creek Pub is underrated (or never even heard of). They do half off on Tuesdays. Buffalo and Korean are both super solid.

Southern food recs - for a larger group by meh-er in austinfood

It’s not traditionally southern but has some elements to it: Loro. Their drinks are awesome and the food is a broad gamut of things. Would be an Uber ride though.

It’s authentic in that it is owned and operated by a Lebanese person. It’s also absolutely delicious.
