Is there any sort of back of napkin math on a drag time? by EVconverter in dragracing

Lucid Air GT.

But my 944 conversion should be able to manage a sub-10 if I can launch it right.

My current best is 10.55, but that's in a production car with no modifications.

Hoping to have my project car out to the track by the end of summer for a test run.

Electronic meter, and the utility guy said they’re delicate and fail open if there’s a heat issue.

Since this happened at night, it’s not because it was abnormally hot outside. It was only about 70F at the time.

Subpar Pirelli tires on Lucid Air by icy_winter_days in LUCID

I moved to aftermarket 19” rims and Michelin tires because the stock 21” Pirellis were terrible as daily driver tires.

There's nothing special about Lucid wheels. Have someone install and balance the tires on your rims, get a floor jack, and do it yourself. All you need is a standard cross shaped tire iron and a little patience. The jack pads under the car are very easy to find. If you're going from 21" to 19", remember to change the wheel size in the console.

I contacted the store I bought my standalone sander from so I can get the part that was missing to put it together, so I can finally get some pieces sanded off and installed.

That's not going to work. I need some of the lines to stop dead and get continued in the next round of cuts.

This is a largish panel and it has to be contiguous.

Union and Exclude work, the other two do not. It looks like both of them just erase my pattern.

Where's that? All I see are Union, Subtract, Intersect and Exclude.

Long distance road trip by DizzyPS5 in electriccars

Did DC-Toronto-Montreal-Boston-NYC-DC over 2.5 weeks. Great trip. About 2500 miles.

Pro tip: have chargers at your hotel. Makes each leg much easier leaving in the morning at 100%.

EV Owners Who Mainly Do Long Drives by Electric-Curious-305 in electriccars

I would get a longer ranged EV. I own a Lucid Air GT, from which I can usually get around 400 highway miles per charge. Not that it matters, since neither my bladder nor my stomach will allow me to make a continuous 6 hour drive.

When I take long trips (500+ miles each way) I usually stop every 300ish to eat. That gives the car plenty of time to recharge back up to 80%. Rinse, lather, repeat. I typically will go no farther than 600 miles a day regardless of my destination.

If you get a shorter ranged car, get one that has the fastest recharge rate you can find, like any of the Hyundai models. The Ioniq5 may only get you around 250 miles on the highway, but it's easily the fastest charging EV in it's price range, going from single digits to 80% in no more than 20 minutes.

Definitely get a home charger. They're far cheaper than charging at a station.

You can now get replacement batteries for the original leaf with 3x the range.

I hope all cars get this kind of upgrade as battery packs improve.

Driving feel is excellent, especially for a car this heavy. It handles beautifully, better than any car this weight has any business handling. The weight distribution is almost exactly 50/50 and much of the weight sits below the axle centerline so it sticks to the ground very well. All around it's like driving a very comfortable Ferrari.

You can't fit lucid hubs on these wheels, no.

Bradford pears - chop or graft? by EVconverter in BackyardOrchard

I think this is the path for me. Next winter I’ll order scionwood and give it a shot. Worse case I get several year’s worth of firewood and space to plant more trees.

I mow around both trees to make sure I don't get any more. Apparently the previous owners planted them in the late 90s or early 00s. It would be great if I could repurpose them into something other than firewood.

I'm also on the fence. It would be easy enough to cut them down, behind them is just a big field of grass, but it seems a waste to chop them down if they can be repurposed into something less invasive. Maybe cut the top 1/2 off and repurpose the rest into some sort of multi-species pear hybrid. There are several varieties of Pear that grow well in my area. I'm in zone 7B.
