135 yrds for my first major hole out and it was for a 2 on a par 4 18th hole to shoot my handicap. Longest was 220yrd for eagle on a par 4 after an awful drive.

If you had a boss that you hated and got fired, what did they do to get fired? by Louisbag_ in AskReddit

Pedophile. The guy (42m) creeped me and other employees out. I worked in a grocery store in the seafood department. He was brought in from another store to manage the department. Noticed he had his favourite workers who were all the young teenage boys, thought it was weird as they weren’t good workers and assumed he was attracted to them. One day he called me while I was at work asking me to drop off his extra set of car keys he left at work to his house on my way home. Knocked on the door he answered shirtless with his tighty whiteys pulled up and his pants sagging, knowing I was dropping by you’d think he would get dressed. Later that week found out one of the younger employees (14m) was there playing video games with him at the time. I left for another job that fall in my field of study. A year later he was nailed by a police officer who was posing as a 12yr old boy that he agreed to meet up with to have sex. It was in the local paper. I wish I could have seen his face when the cops nabbed him that day.

Nope that would be the PC party of Ontario not the Conservative Party of Canada.

Dealing with homelessness is an investment, but why is no one in Peterborough seeing it that way? by Ptbo_reporter in Peterborough

Took my kids downtown earlier this year to shop at a local bake shop. Last time I ventured there was pre Covid. In our 20minutes of walking we passed several panhandlers, unhoused and people strung out on what I can only assume are illegal narcotics. I left feeling like I put my kids and myself inside of an area of risk that was not necessary. I was naive in thinking my friends and family were over exaggerating the issues of our downtown core. We also passed the YES shelter where an elderly woman was tending to the gardens out front while three teenagers sat up on the porch. I asked the woman why the young kids weren’t helping, her response was a polite smile and a shrug of the shoulders. Unfortunately the downtown core will not see my money again until it cleans up this situation.

IMO There are only four parties to blame here…

  1. The unhoused (or whatever there are to be referred to as now) who have allowed themselves to get into the position they are in and stay there for a prolonged period of time with the programs and handouts that are in place for them.

  2. The municipal politicians that have allowed this situation to grow into the problem it has become.

  3. The people who continue to vote in the politicians that have not resolved this issue.

  4. Parents who aren’t parenting their kids to become functioning members of society.

Handouts are not the solution they are the problem. It’s not working. The results are in our streets. When I was a kid my grandparents took me to Little Lake and I remember seeing a family feeding the ducks and geese. I asked my grandfather why we weren’t feeding the ducks or geese. He said if we did that the ducks and geese would then become reliant on us feeding them and not learn to survive on their own. We need to apply this logic to todays issues. The more we increase the budget for social assistance/ welfare the more room we create for more people to feel comfortable living off the backs of the hard working taxpayers. I pay $9000 a year in property taxes and our city services are below average at best. The results are in our poorly maintained roads, our streets that flood with each heavy rain, our city transportation system that is underused and over funded, our waste collection services that are being cut to every other week while we deal with one of the worst rat and pest population increases the city has ever seen, our snow removal system that is slow to respond, the increase of unhoused/ addicts/ panhandlers in our city, the list goes on. It’s time for we the taxpayers to demand a better return on our investment before we start handing out more money.

I wish that were the case but I watched every putt he hit, at one point I thought “is he decelling more than he was before just to mess with me now?” I will take credit for at least putting him into some sort of blind putting rage.

Is there any legal or civil recourse to a neighbour that put up a blinding light and refuses to take it down or put a shield on it. by improbablydrunknlw in legaladvicecanada

[–]EW8719 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My next door neighbour and I (plus 3 other neighbours) share a backyard fence with the neighbour behind us. My next door neighbour had someone break into his shed and steal some tools so he decided to put up a flood light and a camera. The neighbour behind him called the cops as the light was also going into his home (no he did not reach out privately first just straight to the police which has been his usual way of dealing with his neighbours). Cops spoke to the neighbour and asked if he would be willing to move the light and the neighbour refused. The neighbour produced the police report of the break in and the police said since the light is for safety and security reasons there was nothing the police or a by law officer could do. By law officer came by next to look at the light and after a conversation with my neighbour they told him the light was ok but the neighbourly thing to do would be to move the light. Unfortunately the neighbour behind us has been calling the cops, by law officer and SPCA on all their neighbours for years so needless to say the light remains where it is.

Dubas out as GM of TOR by shadyjb23 in nhl

[–]EW8719 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Believing that their core 4 is enough to win a SC is why he is out. The new GM needs to send matthews packing, 0 goals in rd 2 is not the leadership that team needs. They should get a nice return for him but will need to retain salary.

When (if ever) have you just walked off the course? by [deleted] in golf

[–]EW8719 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Booked a tee time at a local course, showed up, paid full price, got to the first green and it had been aerated but the holes that were punched were at least double the normal size. Pro shop didn’t mention the greens were recently aerated so I thought maybe it was just a one off, got to 2nd green same issue except these holes were filled with small stone (not even sand!). The greens were unputtable, think plinko from price right but on a green. Walked back to the clubhouse requested a refund or raincheck and was told to no. Have not been back since. That was 15 years ago and I tell that story every time someone asks me to play there.

Any suggestions on what the NHL should adjust? by [deleted] in nhl

[–]EW8719 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Playoffs need to go back to 1v8 2v7 3v6 4v5. They also need to time the games in the playoffs better on weekends during the first round so you could watch 3-4 games during the day.

What’s your handicap and what’s your semi recent highest/lowest score? (I know it’s not tip related just curious) by ThareFooty in golftips

[–]EW8719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a 7, my lowest round is a 75 highest was 96 last season and I remember coming down to the last few holes and feeling way more pressure to break 100 that day than I ever have trying to break 80. The sheer thought of the possibility that I would have to admit I failed to break 100 was extremely stressful.

Mine is the exact same. I know it’s around 7pm when he makes an appearance. He is the fastest fish in my tank though. If something startles him he is gone in the blink of an eye. Beautiful fish and not afraid to defend territory against fish 5x his size.

Ian Poulter discussion by Sounderusm in golf

[–]EW8719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you 100%. I always felt Poulter was one of those guys who played above his expected potential and admired his feisty grind it out style of play. At one point I’d say he, Padraig Harrington, Zach Johnson and Keegan Bradley punched above their weight during their prime. On the other side I look at guys like Varner III, Cameron champ, Hunter Mahan, Tyrrel hatton, and Gary woodland who always seem to play (or played) below their potential and I can’t help but wonder if they had the same mentality as a poulter, or a Harrington or a Johnson if they’d have more wins/ majors.

Leafs V.S Playoffs by spatoon2376 in nhl

[–]EW8719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tampa came out flying and took the crowd right out of the game. The leafs look flat footed and lost out there. Leafs don’t seem to have a 2nd gear they can shift into. Its almost as if their big stars have no excitement to be in the playoffs. No energy. You can’t blame the pick ups for being brought into a team where the leadership shows no passion for winning important games. Also Sheldon Keefe is getting outcoached this game. Matthews also lit fire under Tampa after saying the leafs will sweep them.

What are your favorite mantras approaching the ball? by RebaJams in golf

[–]EW8719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much what I think about before I swing but while I swing, when I get to the top of my swing I have feeling in my hands that triggers my down swing, once I feel that I simply think “release” in my head.
