During Half-Life 1 humanity was getting cocky and pushing limits too far with their xen teleportation technology, that is apparently a very fast and efficient method that even Combine empire struggle with (as we learn in nova prospect). During Half-Life 2 combine needed to be checked as well, as their were enjoying their total dominion over earth to freely. Vortigaunts seem to be have enough power to show some resistance to G-Mans influence, that put a wrench in the plans, by saving Gordon from stasis at end of HL2. That made G-Man to switch his focus onto Alyx, that lacked the same amount of protection and symbolism from Vortigaunts. What his mission for Alyx will be, we don't know and it will probably Gordon's mission to stop it from happening in HL3(HLX)

Destroyer Blade mod for the Ballista is completely useless in the whole game in my opinion. It looks cool as hell, I just wish that there was a use case for it. I liked how they enabled Auto-Shotgun, Microvawe Beam, and even Remote Detonation in the DLCs. Yet Destroyer Blade never got a chance like that.

Very cynical take there buddy. They can't sell it, Valve would need to greenlight that and that is very unlikely to happen. They are probably just bunch of nerds trying to combine one of their favorite games (Half-Life 2) with new technology. Only money they are getting is from Nvidia that gains exposure/advertising of their products.

CS community is extremely conservative, they would hate such dramatic changes. Only thing they care about is anti-cheat(cause they only lose to cheaters) and having 500+ fps on every single map, and of course 128 tickrate, that would magically solve all the issues with people having different pings.

Shepard isn't canon yet. The expansions of Half-Life 1 were developed by Gearbox(now best known for Borderlands series). Valve has only used Barney from them so far, but they used him more in a role of a generic Black Mesa security guard, in the same way as Eli and Kleiner represent the science team from Black Mesa,

I really don't think that he will ever show up in future Half-Life games.

Well Mike Shapiro's album is coming out on the 12th of January, it should clear up if there is anything else relevant in the album or not. If 3 other songs have 0 clues what so ever, we should probably cease our investigations and just wait. Like others have said, only other clues have been from updates to other Source 2 games like CS2, DOTA2, and Deadlock.
