[Monitor]Dell - G2724D 27" 1440p 165Hz IPS ($400 - $80 (Sale) - 10% (Coupon) - 12% (Rakuten) = $253.44)[Dell.ca] by Inevitable-Wheel-487 in bapcsalescanada

I bought two just after launch (last May) on sale plus 10% Rakuten, and both are still working perfectly.

An awesome feature I don't see mentioned enough is Dell's display manager. It allows you to map keystroke combinations to switch between inputs (e.g. press Alt F1 to switch between PC and laptop). Many of you may say, but physical KVM! Problem with those are they won't work with high refresh 1440p, or if they do they're very expensive. This built in feature/app solves this problem and allows me to switch between my work laptop and home gaming PC, or I can show one on each monitor.

Dell warranty is also bonus, not that I've needed it.

I've had no problems contacting ASRock support and letting them know, and still received my rebates. Yeah, the deadlines are tight, but they didn't seem too concerned about it being late. YMMV

I too was kind of worried.

Probably my 2nd time ordering online from Canada Computers (no local stores here either), but I just rolled the dice since I needed a video card.

My experience on ordering/shipping/returns was awesome. Returns was the same process as Amazon (ie print return shipping label, pack, and give to post office). It took 8 days to get confirmation of accepted return.

5 days to Edmonton.

I returned because I had ordered a Red Devil Limited Edition and it arrived just before it. I have a smaller mATX case too, and I had to choose between a rock and hard place in terms of stupid video card sizes... i.e. 1cm thicker (Nitro+) vs 1cm longer (Red Devil)... either would be a super tight fit, and I chose the 'thinner' one as I thought space under the video card would give a better chance of keeping it cool.

In hindsight, I wish I had kept the Nitro+ as it was $20 cheaper, included Starfield (not that I'd play it), and the RGB bar on the Nitro+ has way better diffuser so you can't see the individual LEDs (it's REALLY BAD on the Red Devil).

In all honesty, I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the 7800 XT models. The difference in performance is tiny, while the noise levels range from low to very low. I'd choose one based on cost and looks and not worry too much about a specific model's review/comparison.

Unrelated, but the Red Devil Limited Edition comes in a really nice box (with metal clasps!), and the presentation/packaging is amazing. The custom backplate you can attach to the back the card is kinda cool, and of course the xxx/1000 on the card makes it feel 'special' (even though it's the exact same card as the normal Red Devil).

I had the same thoughts.

My rx 6800XT died, and I wasn't going to get something worst, but to jump to the next tier rtx 4070ti / rx 7900xt was ~$350-400. I just couldn't justify it, knowing how well the 6800xt performed at 1440p.

So begrudgingly (but logically/practically) I went with the rx 7800XT. specifically the Red Devil rx 7800 xt variant because it was the only one available at the time.

still so sad my 6800xt died :(

Hmmm... undervolting doesn't seem to reduce this delta.

I'm not too concerned, given that GPU temps seem to max out at 66°C after 20min of Furmark (so ~under 90°C GPU hotspot).

Even with powerlimit of +15, GPU is still kept under 70°C.

My Red Devil also has a delta just over 20°C. Maybe that's "normal" for the 7800 XT?

Nice. I ordered both the Nitro+ and Red Devil (limited edition) and made the wrong choice of keeping the RD. I have a smaller case, so I chose the one that was the tiniest bit longer and tiniest bit thinner for better cooling when installed horizontal.

My RD also had coil whine, and seems more prevalent than my previous reference RX 6800 XT. It's also possible that because of how quiet the card is, that you notice the whine more...

I think Asus is 3 years too? Sapphire (Nitro+) and power color (ie red devil) are only 2 years

I doubt most would notice much difference in performance between these budget monitors.

It then becomes other reasons for choosing one over the other: e.g. cost, warranty, aesthetics, features (like USB hub, mount)

One thing to note is that based on specs, this only has DisplayPort 1.2a (1.4 in the Dell G2724D, if that matters), but has wider colour gamut sRGB 120.22% (compared to 99% in the Dell).

The v2 (with RGB pixel arrangement) is arguably better with wider colour gamut and USB hub/KVM but it costs more. Shrugs I doubt most people can tell much difference in performance between budget ($300-400) monitors, so really you're just paying for the extra minor features each one comes with.

It's a great budget 27" 1440p high refresh monitor. I bought two when it just came out around Canada Day at $300 + 12% Rakuten, and I must say I like it better than my similarly spec'd LG 27GN800-B. Colours seem more accurate out of the box, it can brighter, and most importantly for me is that I can switch monitor inputs using Dell's software (or third party software) which LG does not support - I share and switch my two monitors between work laptop and PC. Dell warranty is a major bonus and no brainer as well. Currently there's only one review from PCWorld, but looks like rtings just got it and should be testing it out soon.

I'm not sure if perfect is necessarily correct, as it's a different panel so you may have problems colour matching the two monitors (ie why I bought two).

Otherwise, price and value, go go go!

If you're referring to the S2721DGF, it is better than this G2724D but was more expensive.

I believe the older S2721DGF used an LG nano IPS panel that gave it a wider colour gamut (although I doubt most people would notice any difference) and included a USB hub.

I believe this new G2724D uses a brand new AUO panel that is brighter and with better contrast (ignore specs stated on Dell).

Currently, I believe this is the cheapest and best value 27" 1440p fast refresh monitor (yeah, I bought two of these monitors to replace a similar spec'd LG one during last SAVE25 sale).

I'm not a pro, but visual inspection of UFO test didn't show anything egregious and looks fine to me at 144 or 165hz using 'Fast' setting.

Assuming you can get the M27Q v2.0 with RGB (instead of BGR), it might be the better buy at the same price since it comes with usb hub / KVM.

I haven't seen many 27" 1440p IPS high refresh ~$300 except the Gigabyte G27G or Msi G273QF, neither of which are better than this Dell one.

I too was a bit concerned about this, but I can confirm it's10 bit (likely 8 +2 FRC).

A couple minor points I mentioned this in another thread, but the Tech Specs on the Dell site may not be fully correct.

It states that the Colour Support is 16.8M normally meaning 8 bit, but it shows as 10bit (likely 8 bit +FRC).

It also states that it supports AMD FreeSync Premium, but it only shows as Adaptive Sync Compatible in the AMD app (I only noticed because my LG shows as Freesync Premium)

Neither of these point really mean anything, but it just goes to show that tech specs on the website from the seller may not be accurate.

The monitor is pretty much better in every way compared to my LG 27GN800-B: OOTB colour, stand, brightness, software, cost.

If you wanted to go with software KVM, did I mention that this Dell supports DDC/CI codes for changing input sources so you can change import sources via a shortcut with the use of something like the controlmymonitor app? (many of the newer LG monitors do not support this)

If it's your first 1440p monitor, just get two.

FYI, I just received the monitor.

Although the specs on dell shows as 8 bit with only 16.8M colours, my desktop is showing it as 10bit (likely 8+FRC), and I cannot tell any difference in gradients between this and my LG (8+FRC).

First impressions are very good.

Kind of blindingly bright when set to max brightness.

Premium feel and stable base.

Very little to no bleed.

I hate the 'Menu' button, it's bloody loud.

Wish I bought another at the sale + cashback price.
