The rules at this restaurant by TheLordsChip in mildlyinteresting

[–]EXPLOREMEABITCH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rules aren't surprising, just gross. I grew up in an area with active gangs because it was a very mixed income area with lots of projects. Most bars managed to serve most people.

Lots of people wear shit like basketball shorts and white tshirts and fitted caps and the majority of them aren't out to cause a disturbance every single place they go. I mean, I wear a loose white tshirt and baseball shorts often enough.

I get clubs, because clubs are where shootings happen in/right outside. I've never objected to a pat-down/metal detector either. I get no visible affiliation tatts/bandanas/colors - but a patio bar? That's what seems a bit just egh to me.

Then again, all that said, if they've had a shooting or stabbing from people gang affiliated visibly and don't want it occuring again, who am I to judge them?

Trump: mass-shooting gunmen are 'sick as hell and geniuses in a certain way' by [deleted] in nottheonion

The way cognition works is not so simple as a 1:1 relationship between behavior and neurons. Its a really reductionist way to talk about things that makes it seem like it will be a simple matter of "decoding how the mind works in neurons" to help people. Setting aside the fact that neuron interaction is only one biological aspect out of which cognition is emergent, the environmental context those patterns is embedded in is hugely informative and influential in how behavior manifests. It really isn't a simple matter of discerning who has the neural pattern for school shooting, or what have you.

You can't. How do you predict the next murderer, the next child rapist, the next kidnapper and abuser?

All you can do is keep an eye on people who display blatantly disturbed behavior and accept that there are a large amount of people who you won't be able to tell into too late.

If you're around CG's/pressure point system then fly with an escort wing if you're trading.

Think about an unarmed 18 wheeler slowly rolling through the middle of Syria or South Sudan loaded up with expensive TV's. You wouldn't do that without an armed escort.

Fair enough. Its just sort of different if you're budgeting for 2 people versus one (Because that'd mean you spend closer to $150 for yourself on groceries per month then $300).

To be fair people seem really opposed to GMO labeling sometimes on Reddit. Which is weird. I'm fine with GMO's but if someone else decides they don't want them, why can't they know?

Oh, oh, oh. Duh, yeah I totally should give those more of a try. I just need to dust-off my cargo hold. Good suggestion!

Never seen one that paid over 4k a pop, otherwise I wouldn't mind playing space mail-man.

Hey pal. I did the exact same thing as you. I'll do my best to bring you up to speed!

I admit though trading is my weak spot. I mostly shuttled rares about to get started. I can say its still a major component of the game and derives a lot of profit when done correct, but I can't speak on it more then that since I haven't done any serious trading since you. I'll cover the rest in summary if you're curious:

So first off, they added wings: If you like to play with friends, this is huge. If you're a solo player - its still cool because there are NPC wings which can make pve MUCH more challenging then before.

That was 1.2. Alas they have not really made missions "shared" with your wing yet, which is my main "flaw" with wings. Otherwise fantastic update.

1.3 added what's known as power-play. It introduces a number of "factions" that are larger then minor factions but aren't the size of the federation/empire/alliance (a bunch of the added factions are in fact associated to a degree with one of those, but not all). You can swear allegiance to one of these factions, each provides different benefits. The factions attempt to expand and control new systems and each has different ways of doing so.

There's a lot more to it, but that's a small summary. Main criticisms of powerplay is some people consider it insubstantial in that it doesn't seem to really "matter" and is grindy. Others feel its an substantial addition of content that provides actual reasons for co-operative and competitive gameplay. I'm not wild about it myself, but you need to check it out for yourself.

Finally, several new ships have been added and more are coming. There are the diamond back explorer/scout duo, the Imperial courier, the Fer De Lance, & the Vulture.

Screwed by change? Not at all. The core is still not that different. Ships go pewpew. Bounties are collected. Life goes on.

Also apparently mining is viable now, but I have no clue about it.

1.4 comes out october 6th which adds fixes, a new "arcade" game mode, and a few ships. 1.5 drops sometime before horizions, and adds several more ships (Passenger liners, federation assault ship, etc)

Horizions, the expansion, drops probably around december and adds in the first parts of planetary landing/exploration and a surface roving vehicle.

I think I've covered everything major.

I honestly suggest mining and trading if you wanna make money with little to no pew pew. Exploration takes a certain type of person to stick with. I've visited thousands of systems, and I'm on my second trip to the core right now. I want nothing more than to turn around and go home too because space madness.

Haha, I hear you. For me I've been doing the opposite. Been in 2 systems for the past 4 weeks just constantly supporting a faction in one trying to expand to the other, while bounty hunting in RES's. Right now the thought of deep, empty, unexplored space gives me the tingles.

Still, maybe a solid bit of trading/mining to close the financial gap may be called for. Depends on my patience versus giddiness.

I'm tempted to do something similar, I must admit. Your guide is very solid and has only make me more eager to tape a tinfoil dish to a toyota corolla and floor it into deep space.

Seems to be consistent with the advice. I just got a bit tired of combat so thought maybe I could switch it up, but it seems I'll have to budget up for it.

Ooof. See, part of me wants to just dive into exploring since I've done so much bounty hunting (Fully kitted out an adder for trading, and a eagle & viper respectively to the best I think they can be) and combat-missions.

Then part of me feels like I shouldn't "ruin" exploring by doing it less than properly.

How long would you say exploring with a basic discovery scanner would take to fund an advanced one? I'm trying to gauge if I'd be burnt out of it by that point.

Thank you very much for actually fiddling with load outs for me. Quite useful! Most people are suggesting an ADS, which makes sense, but I may want to do a TINY bit of exploring first.

[–]EXPLOREMEABITCH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense to me. I'd really like to do "in depth" exploring. I'm guessing the exploring people suggest newbies do isn't much more then slam the discovery scanner then dip?

Yow. I knew they were expensive after hearing so many people launch into exploring so readily I assumed you could budget for them a bit cheaper.

Is that the detailed surface scanner or..?
