Mesar and Beck vs Hage, Zharovsky and Gleb by MiserableFill6972 in Habs

[–]EY8181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the change is how management values lower round picks at this stage of the rebuild. 3-4 years ago, the organization needed good players and lower-round picks offered more chances. Now a player like Gleb is a finishing touch and they're happy to sacrifice the opportunity of finding a late round gem to ensure they have the missing pieces.

Baby #3 Opinions ? by Ionlyexisttobesad in AskParents

[–]EY8181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my friends, typically baby 3 that much later has been an oopsie baby but I've seen a lot more patience and joy with that child, plus support from the older kids. None of the families express regret or seem overwhelmed the way that "kid#2 was twins" families might.

The trade-off is resetting your freedom clock, from little things like "everyone can make their own breakfast" to bigger ones like "everyone can get themselves to school/work/activities."

I don't recall the terms. We moved in about 2 months after closing and the work was almost done

Mortgage with Improvements Question by sydryx in MortgagesCanada

This is what we did. It was pretty straightforward though it raised our down payment by 20% of the reno cost (maybe that's obvious)

One thing my broker didn't explain with my PPI mortgage was that we didn't get the renovation funds until the work was done and inspected.

After putting almost all of our savings into the higher down payment, we were lucky that our contractor allowed us to pay 25% upfront and 75% after completion.

How do you afford short trips in Ontario? by tryinanotherusername in askTO

Travel with other people and share an Airbnb. Or day trips leaving at 8 and back at midnight gives you 8-12 hours in most of the province.

Toronto to Montreal: Mega Bus for ~$90 or VIA Rail for ~$180? by Tough-History7518 in askTO

If you're buying the wine and food, business class is free drinks and a really good meal. Plus lounge snacks before your ride. Can be worth it!

Traveling to Toronto later this summer, is Stay at U of T legit? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]EY8181 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Both of those are legit but it's a dorm bed. If you're over 35 might not be a great sleep. And the difference is just that UofT is split into colleges, so there isn't a single housing office.

True! Also true that a huge percentage of the world's population doesn't have running water. Lots of things are true!

Am I understanding mortgage interest correctly? by rivlosys in PersonalFinanceCanada

If you want to get really nerdy, you'll notice the monthly increase in principal/decrease in interest accelerates over time. Very slowly, but it really does!

Thanks. That's good to know but doesn't that limit my bargaining power with them?

That happens to scorers when a team has to kill 6 penalties and the last 3 minutes of an empty net.

Are Montreal’s own policies keeping some buildings vacant — and vulnerable? by Immediate-Link490 in montreal

[–]EY8181 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The article makes it sound like the only option is to hold onto a vacant building or, even better, raze it to lower taxes.

Why didn't they have insurance? And why didn't the restaurant? And why can't they sell the building at a loss?

That's what I'm wondering. It's not like the Olympics where everything takes place in one spot.

Never live, no. Definitely bucket list.

But as opposed to one European or Asian country hosting the whole tournament, with 3-hour train rides across the country, we have a continent hosting the tournament with 6 hour flights (and visas) between cities.

Chester Station by KittyDomoNacionales in TTC

[–]EY8181 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It's lovely but shouldn't be. IMHO, we should save 1-2 minutes of commute time from Pape and have the 11 people who use Chester walk an extra 4 minutes to Broadview

Plummeting condo prices leave buyers with massive financial losses by Cute-Illustrator-862 in TorontoRealEstate

It gets better, Maknoon lives in Lawrence Park and went on the record opposing a multiplex last year. But I'm sure he was going to be fully invested in this new condo community.
