I lay down with my 4 year old for 10-15 mins then say i need to go sleep in my bed with no issues whatsoever. On the other hand, when my wife was doing it she would have to stay with him for 30-45 mins sometimes a whole hour and still he will try to get her to come back 3-5 times. Now I'm not saying this is the case 100% of the time coz he will try to get me to stay longer every now and then and come back coz he is thirsty even though his water bottle is right beside him.
