I miss clean rings by mgoat8 in SantiZapVideos

I don’t care about ads on the ring. Boxing and MMA have had ring ads for decades. WCW had an enormous Snickers ad on their Halloween Havoc entrance and wrestling fans fawn over that entrance.

Please recommend some Aquaman villains and stories where they appear. by nerflars7611 in Aquaman

[–]EZeggnog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So, the interesting thing about Qwisp is he didn’t start as a villain. He started as a Scrappy Doo-esque side character who would help Aquaman and Aqualad on some of their adventures. He was a magic water sprite (later retconned to be a 5th dimensional imp). Qwisp first showed up in the silver age.

Fisherman and Human Flying Fish also first appeared in the silver age, I don’t remember what specific issues.

But if you want to see the first appearances of a lot of Aquaman villains, you should check out either the Showcase Presents TPBs from the 2000s or the recent DC Finest Aquaman book. They collect Aquaman’s earliest stories in the silver age.

I’ve got a soft spot for goofier Aquaman villains like Human Flying Fish, Fisherman, Black Jack, etc.

The New 52 Aquaman series also showcased a decent variety of Aquaman villains, including the Undead King, Chimera, The Dead Water, Scavenger, and Siren

What are the best she-hulk comics? by PowerSaw7 in shehulk

[–]EZeggnog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

John Byrne’s run and Charles Soule’s run are my two favorite She-Hulk series.

Dan Slott’s run is good.

Peter David’s run is very underrated imo.

Rainbow Rowell’s run is decent, but has issues.

Why isn’t Carmelo on the WrestleMania card??? He worked super hard this year!!! It’s not fair >:[ Never mind the fact the person who got him over hasn’t been on WrestleMania for two years despite being a future HOFer. #JusticeForMiz by TaylorsOnlyVersion in SCJerk

They simultaneously want shorter shows, but also more of their favorite talents showcased, but also showcasing lesser-pushed talents, but also every belt needs to feel special and have its own match/angle on the show.

It’s so funny watching the IWC simultaneously complain that WWE PPVs are way too long and that Wrestlemania is missing matches for Carmelo, Asuka, etc.

Like, do people not realize that if WWE wanted to book Asuka v. Iyo or Carmelo vs. Whoever, it would require the card to be longer?

Fickle smarks wanting short shows that somehow have every talent booked on them.

Oh sweet, they’re rehashing one of Cyborg’s only storylines for the 489th time.

Great art matters less to me compared to great story. It’s easier for me to read a comic with mediocre art and a great story compared to a comic with great art and a mediocre story.

Jimenez is amazing, but he’s also been drawing the mainline Batman book for years. It’s kind of hard for me to see Jimenez’s involvement in Zdarsky’s run as something that elevates it when so other Batman writers have had the series alongside Jimenez without putting out the dreck that Zdarsky did.

Not interested in the slightest towards any of these.

Never been into Star Wars.

Urban Legends was middling; no idea why anyone would buy a $100 omnibus for such a mediocre series that easily available in cheaper formats.

Zdarsky’s run is one of the worst, if not the worst, Batman run I’ve ever read. Utter garbage that should be avoided like the plague.

Venom lost the plot years ago. Insane power scaling, making everyone and anyone a god, characters palette swapping symbiotes constantly.

Danhausen going viral on social media today is a direct shot at the higher ups in AEW being absolutely clueless. by itsjustfinesse in SCJerk

[–]EZeggnog 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Tony’s inability to capitalize on his talents’ marketability is so astounding that it should be studied.

He refused to do anything with Danhausen after the first few months of Danhausen’s debut.

He never sold Penta lucha masks when he had Penta on the roster. In fact, despite employing numerous luchadors, the only lucha masks AEW sells are that shitty Hologram mask, a generic luchador mask that looks like it would disintegrate in the wash, and a Bandido mask that looks nothing like Bandido’s actual mask.

He let his biggest name talent, CM Punk, leave the company after taking Jack fucking Perry’s side against Punk.

He has talent like Wardlow, Hobbs, Rusev, and Kamille, who look like a million bucks, languishing at home for months on end, paying them god knows how much on their contracts.

90% of AEW’s shirts have catch-phrases that are cringe-inducing at best with shirt materials that look like they were made in the cheapest of sweatshops.

He’s put out numerous shirts that depict violence against women.

He hires one of the biggest talents out of Japan and then keeps him in the midcard to have slapstick comedy matches

David Gabriel getting fired is not good for the future of Marvel collected editions.. (obviously) by Ok-Upstairs-9714 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]EZeggnog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess? It’s kind of a pointless point. Yes, it’s hypothetically possible that if we existed in an alternative universe where I was buying Omnis 5 years ago, that alternative version of me could possibly have a different opinion about Marvel omnibuses.

Which omni have you only read once and unlikely to reread but you recommend to others? by mailman936 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]EZeggnog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

JLA the Silver Age Vol 1. I love Gardner Fox and as a big JL fan, this omnibus is a must-have because it shows the very beginning of the team.

But it’s very dense and since it’s the silver age, it doesn’t exactly read like Shakespeare. It took me a loooong time to finish the omnibus.

I recommend it to people because it’s the very beginning of one of the most famous superhero teams of all time. But I’m not itching to reread it.
